Fosse Leicestershire Womens League Champions

Well done Fosse

Victory over Loughborough Students has secured Leicester City Ladies Fosse with a place in the Leicestershire Womens Senior League Cup Final.
The match against Friar Lane & Epworth Reserves will take place at Holmes Park on Thursday May 6th with a 7pm kick off in what promises to be a great game.

Fosse 8 v Nuneaton 0

On a boggy pitch the Fosse produced a good confidence boosting win.
With some great passing movements and runs we where six nil up by half time with Carlie opening the scoring and Gemma and Amy B adding to it.
Bee made her return from injury and saw her back to her best with great movement in the midfield.
Some fantastic runs forward by the defence with Clare creating some great chances.
Kate did what was required of her to keep a clean sheet but it wasn’t her busiest game of the season.
Goals from Kate W and Lucy in the second half sealed the win.
Fosse put in a great all round performance on which to build a title challenge from.

Fosse 1 v Loughborough Students 1

Unlucky was the feeling after this game.
The weather was cold rainy and very windy everything you don’t want for a football match.
We played some great football with Gemma scoring the best goal this season giving the Loughborough goalkeeper no chance.
We where on top of the game most of the first half as it came to a close Loughborough has a shot that landed on top of the goal bouncing back into play but Hannah cleared of the line before Loughborough could pounce.
The rain started a lot harder in the second half and with the wind blowing against us there was a lot of defending to do.
We had more chances but they just trickled past the far post.
We though that our luck was in but in the last two minutes there was a mix up between the defence and Kate in goal and the ball became free and Loughborough where able to pounce and equalise.
We had one more attack where we could have scored but Loughborough defended well.

Fosse 1 v Loughborough Students 4

Loughborough where lucky to get their first and their second was off side.
This put us on the back foot and it was three nil shortly after the second half kicked off.
The three subs where thrown on to try a rescue something but it was to little to late they got the ball in the back of the net but it was deemed the ball was in the goalkeepers hands and was disallowed.
Loughborough got a there forth with a trick over the goal line.
There was one bright point where Amy and Carmy linked up to get our goal and there where glimpses of what we could do but to no avail.

Fosse 0 v Heather 1

A strong performance by a team not at its full strength where players played out of position.
We were unlucky to concede the Heather goal and battled hard to get one back but the luck was against us.

Fosse 8 v Westfield 0

Great team improvement from last week’s performance.
The play came together in the second half to produce a great passing game with four goals from Gemma, one from Amy with midfield and defence getting in on the goal scoring action as well with goals by Carlie, Kate and Mel.
With Kate Turnbull alert when called upon in goal.

Fosse 2 v Heather 4

A game we hoped we could get something from but with a poor second half performance we threw it away.
Heather took the lead with a soft goal but we got our noses in front with two great goals from Carmy.
In the second half our half time sub Bianca got injured and after that the team didn’t perform at its best.
Heather equalised and got in front.
While we where pressing for an equaliser Heather got lucky when Lucy put the ball past Kate to give Heather their forth goal.
With some interesting decisions from the ref we put this game down to one of those days.

Fosse 6 v Friar Lane 0

Another good team performance at home.
We took advantage of Friar Lane only having 11 players but never the less we played a slick passing game of football that resulted in some great goals from all areas of the pitch.
It nearly wasn’t the win we got as Friar Lane had the first shot from a corner but Hannah cleared of the line.
The team pulled together to get the win with goals from all over the pitch.
This game kept us at the top of the league with Friar Lane being one of our closer rivals it was a good win for us.

Fosse 3 v Ashfordby Away 1

A very stop start game right from the off.
Never the less another game with plenty of movement with two stunners from Sandeep followed by a stunner from Ashfordby to increase the pressure on us but that was soon sorted out when Carmy put the game to bed with our third.
With some great saves by Kate and good defending from the team when it was two one made the score line seem like the game way easy but it was anything but.
