Firsts Late Rally

Leicester City Ladies knew nothing but a win was enough in the chase for second today but they came up against a very brave Leamington side, themselves fighting to just stay in the division.
First half was not Leicester City Ladies best at all and they failed to get to grip until the half hour mark when the away team played some more productive Football.
Second half Leicester City Ladies started brightly and that continued into the half. Hillier unfortunately could not convert from the spot and for all City’s good play maybe the game had 0-0 written all over it. It was a late charge however, Scott won a free kick on half way, then made it into the box, off the kick to flick on and for Whalley to head home over the oncoming goalkeeper. The deadlock was finally broken much to City’s delight, however they were not finished there and on the break Gemma Ball found space on the left before finding Whalley again with a great cross field ball who slotted home one v one past the goalkeeper.
Overall the game could of been more comfortable but chances missed, however Leamington played well and results count more than patterns of play at this stage and City take three points now knowing two more wins from the last two would guarantee them 2nd place. It is still a three horse race to the finish line behind champions Stoke City.
