Speaking after making his decision to step down as First Team Manager Matt Cook commented “It has been 7 years and at 29 years of age it is now time for me to take on new challenges. Leicester City Ladies have been a key part in my development as a coach, a manager and a person and I will always be eternally grateful for them giving me the opportunity and I would like to think I grabbed it with both hands. I have so many fantastic memories that I cannot go into in one statement but when I think of all that’s been achieved its quite remarkable and for that I have to thank every single player over the past seven years, also every coach and committee member who backed the seniors at key times. I believe I have built friendships that will remain for a long time and that is the most rewarding thing I will take from my time as First Team Manager that far surpasses any footballing results. To conclude I have to thank Club Chairman Steve Crayfourd for trusting me at 22 years of age to work with the seniors, Club Secretary Sue Foulkes for being by my side at every moment, Mary Rudkin for guiding the football side and Mark Yates who promoted my teams so well and all the great volunteers who have helped me in anyway. Leicester City Ladies is a fantastic football club and I leave the first team management post with a heavy heart and all I can say is thank you! I have had the best time I can’t even begin to explain what the club has given me. I wish the new management team every success in the new season.”
