A strong performance by a team not at its full strength where players played out of position.
We were unlucky to concede the Heather goal and battled hard to get one back but the luck was against us.

Both teams started the game brightly and were battling for every ball. Radcliffe Olympic used the physical aspect of their game to their advantage and used the pace of their forward players to cause Leicester City Ladies  problems.
The first half remained goalless with Radcliffe Olympic looking more likely to score.

A game we hoped we could get something from but with a poor second half performance we threw it away.
Heather took the lead with a soft goal but we got our noses in front with two great goals from Carmy.
In the second half our half time sub Bianca got injured and after that the team didn’t perform at its best.
Heather equalised and got in front.
While we where pressing for an equaliser Heather got lucky when Lucy put the ball past Kate to give Heather their forth goal.
With some interesting decisions from the ref we put this game down to one of those days.

Fosse 6 v Friar Lane 0

Another good team performance at home.
We took advantage of Friar Lane only having 11 players but never the less we played a slick passing game of football that resulted in some great goals from all areas of the pitch.
It nearly wasn’t the win we got as Friar Lane had the first shot from a corner but Hannah cleared of the line.
The team pulled together to get the win with goals from all over the pitch.
This game kept us at the top of the league with Friar Lane being one of our closer rivals it was a good win for us.

Making progress

Have lost 6-0 to the defending league champions, and undefeated this season, Stretton Swifts earlier this season a 2-0 defeat shown the progress made by the girls so far this season.

Solid defence by Leicester City Ladies in the first half was only broken when Stretton Swifts scored with a dubious penalty.

The second half carried on in the same way and with a better run of the ball Leicester City Ladies could have pulled a goal back but were denied by the excellent Stretton Swifts goalkeeper, who picked up player of match award. Stretton Swifts headed a second from a corner to secure all the points.

Well done girls.

Well deserved point for First team

TNS Ladies v Leicester City Ladies

Leicester City Ladies fought back and equalised on the stroke of half time when Kim picked the ball up on the half way line, played it out wide to Marshie who squared for Erica to finish from the edge of the box.

Half Time 1 – 1

Both team started the second half well and were both pushing forward looking for the 2nd goal. On 76 mins TNS took the lead when a long ball caused confusion between the Leicester City Ladies goalkeeper and her defence that allowed the striker to nip in and score.
Leicester City Ladies continued to battle and look for an equaliser and were awarded a penalty when a cross from Jodie on the right bobbled up and hit the TNS defender on the arm. Marshie stepped up and blasted the ball straight down the middle of the goal.

Both defences were on top in the opening minutes, Fran for the Tigers making several key interceptions with Shakeela for the Lions doing the same at the other end. Shortly before half time Anna had a half chance to give the Lions the lead but found the side netting.
This left the half time score 0-0.
The Lions attacked from the whistle and quickly hit a post and nearly bundled in the rebound before Lauren cleared the ball for the Tigers. An quick counter attack down the right gave Rhea a half chance to open the scoring for the Tigers but Toyah made and excellent covering tackle. Again the Lions came back with a series of attacks but found Beth in fine form and when she was beaten Lacy was on hand to clear the ball off the line from a neat shot from ‘Mops’. Emma added some fresh legs in attack for the Tigers but could not find a way past ‘Mini’ in the Lions defence. The deadlock was finally broken just before the end of the second half when the Tigers Laura collected a throw on the edge of the box and smashed a powerful shot on the turn into the net.
