Lions win County Cup

Leicester City Ladies Lions under 12s won the County Cup 1-0 at Holmes Park in an exciting but very tight game with few chances.
The only goal came midway through the first half after a bout of sustained pressure from the Leicester City Ladies Lions, from the resulting corner Jamie drilled the ball in to the box and under pressure from ‘Minty’ the Westfield Wanderers defence bundled through their own goal.
Westfield Wanderers came back strongly but Sadie in the Leicester City Ladies Lions with her defence of Shakeela, Toyah  and ‘Mops’ stood firm.
Powerful shots from ‘CC’ and ‘Minty’ for Leicester City Ladies Lions were well saved by the Westfield Wanderers goalie.
The second half began with Westfield Wanderers attacking  but finding the Lions defence unyielding with Anna, Chloe and Sophie ward all playing well.
Leicester City Ladies Lions nearly doubled their lead with five minutes to go with the best move of the match with ‘Mini’ releasing ‘CC’ down the left wing who crossed for Jamie who shot powerfully over the bar.
The game see-sawed but the Leicester City Ladies Lions held on for a great victory.

Lions warm up for Cup Final

In a highly entertaining game Leicester City Ladies Lions overcame a strong Asfordby Amateurs team 2-1 in the under 12s league. After going a goal behind ‘CC’ scored both Leicester City Ladies Lions goals from good passing moves.

The teams will meet again in the County Cup Final being played at Holmes Park on Thursday 29th April with a 5.30pm kick off.

At the weekend Leicester City Ladies Lions again came back from a goal down to grab a draw against a good Westfield Wanderers side with Jamie netting.

Team: Sadie, ‘Mini’, Toyah, Shakeela, Anna, ‘Mops’, ‘Minty’, Chloe, Sophie, ‘CC’ and Jamie.

Lions remain top

Leicester City Ladies Lions encountered some stubborn resistance against a resilient Barwell & Burbage United defence but eventually ran out 8-0 winners in this under 12 encounter to stay top of the league.
‘CC’ led the scoring with 4 goals, ‘Minty’ got 3 and Sophie added 1.
Sadie in the Leicester goal deserves a mention as well.

Tigers back to winning ways

Leicester City Ladies Tigers beat Marlborough Rovers three one in a highly entertaining under 12s league game.
Lacy opened the scoring for Leicester City Ladies with a shot from twelve yards out.
Marlborough Rovers fought back and levelled the match to leave the half time score one each.
Joint parents player of the match Shannon restored the lead for Leicester City Ladies Tigers, before Kim secured the points from a corner taken by the other parents player of the match Laura.
Team: Beth, Lauren, Fran, Shannon, Lacy, Laura, Kim, Nicole and Louise.

Leicester City Woodgate Football Partnership & Club

Leicester City Woodgate Inclusive Football Partnership was set up in May 2007 and currently provides regular football opportunities for females, males, youngsters and adults with a special need or learning, physical or sensory impairments or disabilities.

The Club provides a great opportunity for the teams to train every week and take part on a regular basis in the Leicestershire & Rutland Inclusive Football League, which takes around the City and County. The ethos of the League is Respect and Fair Play.

Football is a great team sport and can offer players a great way of having fun, learning new skills and enhancing health and well being, social and life skills and also help to raise the self esteem of those players involved. Football for All takes place in a safe & friendly environment, where football provides a great opportunity for players to become a very valued Team and Club member.

All coaches are FA Qualified, 1st aid trained and FA CRB checked.

Inclusive ‘Football for All’

Leicester City Ladies in partnership with Leicester City Woodgate Inclusive Football Partnership runs female only teams for players from the age of 12 years up to adults.

We currently have around 7 Youth players U16 and 10 Ladies players, who train and play football on a regular basis.

Teams train every Thursday at:
St. Margaret Pastures Sports Centre on the astroturf pitches – 4.30 – 6.00 pm.

We endeavour to provide football for all ability levels and have an ethos of Fun – Fair-Play and Respect for All.

Inclusive ‘Football for All’

Leicester City Woodgate Inclusive Football Partnership, Junior section, also provides football and fundamental skills training for girls and boys from the age of 6 – 14 years of age.

Currently there are around 14 players attending on a Thursday evening in the Sportshall at the New College, just off Glenfield Road, Leicester LE3 6RN from 5.00 pm – 6.00 pm.

This teams trains every week in school term time and also play in the Junior and Youth section of the Leicestershire and Rutland Inclusive Football League, which holds matches around the City and County every month, where all the other Inclusive Club’s teams, play matches in a fun and friendly environment, ensuring as much as possible, a level playing field for all abilities and Respect for All.

Leicester City Woodgate FC runs teams for players from the age of 12 years up to 16 years.

We currently have around 10 Youth players training and playing football on a regular basis.

Teams train every Thursday at:
St. Margaret Pastures Sports Centre on the astroturf pitches – 4.30 – 6.00 pm.

We endeavour to provide football for all ability levels and have an ethos of Fun – Fair-Play and Respect for All.

Some of our players also play representative football for the Leicestershire & Rutland Inclusive (Disability) Squads, playing in the East Midlands League.

Lions win top of Table Clash

Leicester City Ladies Lions moved clear at the top of the under 12s league with a hard fought 1-0 victory over second placed Stretton Swifts courtesy of a fine goal by Jamie.

Victory over Loughborough Students has secured Leicester City Ladies Fosse with a place in the Leicestershire Womens Senior League Cup Final.
The match against Friar Lane & Epworth Reserves will take place at Holmes Park on Thursday May 6th with a 7pm kick off in what promises to be a great game.

Lions edge derby thriller

Leicester City Ladies Lions beat Leicester City Ladies Tigers 3-2 in a highly entertaining under 12s league match.
The match flowed from end to end with high quality football from both sides despite the wet conditions.
Leicester City Ladies Tigers opened the scoring after eighteen minutes when Rhea made a run down the left hand side and held the ball up well before firing the ball low in to the penalty area, Shannon who had made a run from deep in her own half arrived just in time to fire the ball home.
Leicester City Ladies Lions responded instantly with two quick goals in a minute from “Mops” and “CC” to go into half time with a 2-1 lead.
Leicester City Ladies Lions caught the Tigers defence asleep at the start of the second half when “CC” scored with a fine individual effort from the kick off.
Leicester City Ladies Tigers responded five minutes later when Kim turned in a Laura free kick from close range.
Both sides pushed hard for another goal Beth made some quality saves in the Leicester City Ladies Tigers goal and was awarded the parents player of the match trophy.
Well done to both teams.
