Leicester City Ladies 1 Oadby & Wigston Dynamo 1

Leicester City Ladies started this Under 16s League game very slowly but created the first two chances of the game.
This seemed to knock Leicester City Ladies confidence and Oadby & Wigston started getting more and more confident and went into a deserved 1-0 lead.
Leicester City Ladies finished the last twenty minutes pushing for the equaliser but the half ended 1-0 to Oadby & Wigston.
In the second half Leicester City Ladies upped the tempo and then got an equaliser through Charlotte.
As hard as Leicester City Ladies tried to push for the winner the goal was never going to come and that was down to an Oadby & Wigston side determined not to lose.
“I would like to congratulate my team for the effort they put in and Oadby for their determined spirit enabling them to get a point they thoroughly deserved.” commented Leicester City Ladies manager Roger Holt.

Under 11s through to County Cup Final

Leicester City Ladies started the game brightly and created numerous chances early on but were met with a GNG goalkeeper in brilliant form. Leicester City Ladies tried everything to get a goal but nothing seemed to be going for them. GNG defended solidly and were always a threat on the break with a pacey and skilful midfield player.

Half Time 0-0

The second half started much the same with Leicester dominating possession and creating all the chances. Once again the GNG goalkeeper played outstanding making lots of good saves. Leicester kept trying but just could find a goal in this game. The Leicester defence had to stay on their toes and GNG themselves had a few chances to score but Leicester goalkeeper Viv also pulled off some good saves.

The game went into 5 minutes extra time but still neither team could find a goal, so the match went to a penalty shoot out.

Both Leicester City Ladies and GNG missed their first penalties with both goalies making good saves. Chloe scored her penalty to make it 1-0 to Leicester, Viv saved the next and Lauren scored with a great finish to make it 2-0 to Leicester. Leicester then missed a chance to win the shoot out, but Viv was in no mood to be beaten and made another great save to send Leicester through to the County Cup Final!!!

Player of the Match: Viv – Although this was a fairly quiet game for goalkeeper Viv, she stepped up to save all 3 penalties in the shoot out and displayed so much focus and determination to win…Well Done!

Holders Reach Final

County Cup holders Leicester City Ladies Lions booked their place in the final of this years under 13 competition with an emphatic nine goal victory over Leicester Fosse Colleens.
Leicester City Ladies goals came form “CC” four, “Minty” two and one each for Chloe, Jamie and “Mops”.

Firsts in FA Cup Victory

Leicester City Ladies secured their place in the next round of the FA Cup beating TNS 5-0 at Aylestone Park.
The whole game was a little flat but Leicester City used the ball better and got their result.
Erica Preston put Leicester City Ladies ahead thumping home at the near post to finish off a fine team move.
In the second half a cross ball from Scott deflected in off a TNS defender for 2-0.
Kimbereley kept up her rich vain of scoring to make it 3-0 from six yards out.
Leicester City Ladies started to play their best football of the match now and earned a fourth through Jodie White.
Chances came thick and fast but Leicester City Ladies were lacking conviction with their finishing to keep the score respectable for the visitors especially first half.
Gemma Ball rounded off Leicester City Ladies scoring with what was without doubt the best move of the match and fired home to make it 5-0.
Overall Leicester City Ladies made hard work of the game but with good application to the competition City earn an away tie to Coventry Copeswood in the national cup.

Tigers Gain Narrow Victory

Leicester City Ladies Tigers gained a narrow 3-2 victory over Leicester Fosse Colleens in the under 13s league.
Leicester City Ladies Tigers dominated the opening exchanges with Rhea firing just over the bar and Lacy shot just wide.
Laura for Leicester City Ladies was first denied by the Leicester Fosse Colleens goalkeeper and then found the side netting, before hitting the opening goal from distance after fifteen minutes.
The lead did not last very long Leicester Fosse Colleens were awarded a free kick on the edge of the penalty area which they scored from directly.
The match was level for only seven minutes. Kim, standing in goal again for Leicester City Ladies, knocked a short goal kick to Laura who played a long through ball for Shannon to chase and fire home.
Again Leicester Fosse Colleens came straight back and levelled the match within a minute of falling behind.
Leicester City Ladies Tigers made some changes at half time with Rhea taking over in goal.
Leicester Fosse Colleens started the second half on the attack and Kim, Fran and Lauren needed to be at their best to keep the ball away from the penalty area.
Ten minutes in to the second half Leicester City Ladies Tigers regained the lead, Jade threaded a lovely pass in to the path of Shannon who used her pace to beat the defenders and fire an unstoppable shot in to the corner of the net.
Sabine for Leicester City Ladies made a crucial tackle for moments after the goal to prevent Leicester Fosse Colleens gaining a quick equaliser.
The last quarter was a tight battle, Leicester City Ladies Tigers created the clearer chances but were unable to extent their lead.
Leicester City Ladies Tigers player of the match Leah, making only her second league start came closest with a suburb run past two defenders before sending her shot across the face of the goal and narrowly wide.

Under 16s Stay on Top

Leicester City Ladies under 16s maintained their position at the top of the league with a two nil victory over Loughborough Foxes.
The game was always going to be close with two very evenly matched teams, the first half saw both sides playing some excellent football with the defences being on top.
There were very few goal scoring chances in the first half but when one fell to Charlotte she put it away to put Leicester City Ladies into a 1-0 half time lead.
Leicester City Ladies went out in the second half knowing the next goal was always going to be important and midway through the second half Charlotte scored her second of the game which proved to be vital.
Leicester City Ladies manager Roger Holt commented after the game “I would like to congratulate both sets of players in which was a very close encounter in which we were very happy to come away with a 2-0 win.”

Six Goal Win

Leicester City Ladies Lions maintained their 100% record with a victory against a spirited Leicester Fosse Colleens side.
After struggling to break down a strong Leicester Fosse Colleens defence and some fine goalkeeping Leicester City Ladies Lions ran out six goal victors thanks to goals from “CC”, “Minty”, Chloe, Jamie, “Mini” and Sophie.

Tigers hit Seven

Leicester City Ladies Tigers went into their under 13s league game against Whitwick Wolves with only nine players available, but got off to a great start Laura turning in a corner inside the first two minutes to give Tigers the lead.
Leicester City Ladies Tigers continued to attack, Laura heading against the bar from another corner and Shannon went close on several occasions including one ruled out for offside.
Leicester City Ladies Tigers defence of Sabine, Lauren and Fran were all in fine form keeping Whitwick Wolves away from their goal.
The constant pressure on the Whitwick Wolves goal produced a second goal when Lacy lashed in a cross/shot that creped in at the near post.
Shannon added Leicester City Ladies Tigers third with a fine finish at the end of a long solo run, and Jade nearly added a fourth just before half time.
The second half started with Leicester City Ladies Tigers on the attack again from the kick off and added their fourth goal when Laura dribbled through the Whitwick Wolves defence and fired an unstoppable shot into the top of the net.
Whitwick Wolves to their credit continued to play good football but found Tigers defence in top form giving stand in keeper Kim, who put in a solid performance, a quite afternoon.
Leah making her debut for Leicester City Ladies Tigers almost added a goal that would a capped an excellent performance.
Jade covered every blade of grass for Leicester City Ladies Tigers helping out the defence and then appearing in attack to set up Shannon in space on the right who then used her pace to glide passed the defence round the keeper and slot the ball home into the empty net.
The next time Shannon collected the ball her hat track was the only thing on her mind as she set off towards goal, reached the edge of the box before unleashing a powerful shot into the back of the net.
Lacy added Leicester City Ladies Tigers seventh goal shortly before the end, a good team performance every player performed their well and lasted the whole match.

First Team Christen New Pitch With Win

Christening their new home pitch Leicester City Ladies secured back to back league wins for the first time this season with victory over Wolves.
The first half was extremely even with both teams trying to play football and find openings, it looked like both teams may cancel each other out.
Leicester City Ladies did not create many clear chances, the best one of the half fell to
the Wolves number 9 who with a fine volley brought a superb save diving to her right from goalkeeper “Beana”.
Second half Wolves started the better and gave Leicester City Ladies a few early
scares and a goal line clearance kept it at 0-0.
Leicester City Ladies then started to look the more likely team to win, playing a lot more positively. Although there was not a lot of clear cut chances in the game Leicester City Ladies went close when Erica Preston forced a fine save from the Wolves goalkeeper with a strike from twenty yards out. Within ten minutes another chance came Leicester City Ladies way, good hold up play from
Marshall whose through ball found Walton who lifted the ball beyond the advancing goalkeeper into the net to give Leicester City Ladies the lead.
Leicester City Ladies then had to defend well for the rest of the game, and brave defending paid
off as Leicester City held on to their lead and earned a great three points against third place Wolves.
Overall not much between the two teams but Leicester City Ladies took their chance when it
came and it was followed by a great team performance.

Under 11s lose out in close game

The game started with both teams cancelling each other out with both goalies making some good saves.
Oadby & Wigston did take the lead early in the 1st half with a good goal to which Leicester City Ladies replied just before half time with a 6th goal of the season for Foxy.

Half time 1-1.

The second half continued much the same with both teams having chances and playing some good football. Oadby & Wigston took the lead once more with a well taken goal from their striker. Leicester City Ladies began to put pressure on Oadby & Wigston in search of an equaliser and Foxy stepped up once again with a good finish to level the score at 2-2.
Leicester City Ladies dominated the last 5 minutes of the game, keeping Oadby & Wigston in their own half but just couldn’t find the finish!
With well over 25 minutes played Oadby & Wigston won a corner and managed to scramble a goal with just about the last kick of the game.

The girls were all gutted to lose out with the last kick of the game,after putting so much into it, a draw would have been a fair result. Credit to Oadby & Wigston girls who had no substitutes, they did fantastic. Overall this was a great game of football and a credit to the girls who should all be proud of themselves.
