Under 14s Hit Sixteen

On form Leicester City Ladies hit Oadby & Wigston Starlets for sixteen in the Under 14s League.
Leicester City Ladies played some fine football and Demi scored a hat-trick inside the first fifteen minutes with Simran adding a forth on the twenty minute mark.
Oadby & Wigston Starlets came more into the game and the half time came without any further goals.
The second half saw Leicester City Ladies on the attack and Oadby & Wigston pinned back with regular goals coming from Demi 2, Jamie 1, Simran 4, Paige 3 and Charlie 2.
On a difficult day, the Oadby & Wigston girls and manager must be commended for their sporting attitude.

First team beaten by leaders

LCLFC 0-2 Rotherham

Leicester City Ladies welcomed unbeaten league leaders Rotherham to Aylestone Park with a young side starting the game, and a spirited display was encouraging for the future of the club.

Rotherham were 2 up before the break and early goal which caused confusion from a corner found the net and penalty on half hour made it difficult for the home side.
Second half Leicester City Ladies rallied, but without carving out any clear cut chances all their efforts left them with no points but a very spirited display none the less.

After the game Manager Matt Cook commented “I am sure the league leaders realised they were in a game today, great credit goes to all the players against the unbeaten leaders.”

The match kicked off and for the first ten minutes it was quite even. After fifteen minutes Megan opened the scoring for Leicester City Ladies who continued to press forward and went into a 2-0 lead after twenty five minutes through Abbie.
With Leicester City Ladies pushing forward looking for more goals Dexter fired in from 20 yards to make it 3-0 at half time.
The second half resumed with Leicester City Ladies going further ahead from Bethany with a long range shot, Charlotte then joined in with the scoring to make it 5-0 and further goals from Emily and Sophie wrapped up a 7-0 victory.
This was a very deserved victory with all members of the squad contributing, which reflects with seven different goal scorers. Well done girls in collecting another 3 points.

Strong Second Half Secures Win

Leicester City Ladies Tigers twice came from behind to beat Barwell & Burbage United by five goals to two in the under 13s league.
The game started evenly with both sides having chances to take the lead, Rhea went close for Leicester City Ladies from the edge of the box seeing her shot saved for a corner. Beth in the Leicester City Ladies goal did well to turn a shot over the bar.
Ten minutes into the game Barwell & Burbage United opened the scoring after a goal mouth scramble following on from a corner.
Susie came on to make her début for Leicester City Ladies and quickly found her feet in defence.
Twenty minutes into the first half Leicester City Ladies levelled the match after a period of pressure, Rhea made an accurate pass to Laura who surged past the last defender and hit a powerful shot that the keeper did well to get a hand on but could not keep the ball out of the net.
Jade and Leah started to get the Leicester City Ladies midfield moving and created a series of chances for Lacy and Shannon but Barwell & Burbage battled back and grabbed the lead just before half time.
The second half started with Barwell & Burbage on the attack and Kim did well to cover across the back line and prevent another goal.
Leicester City Ladies came back in to the game and Shannon went close a couple of times before Rhea levelled the game with a shot from a very tight angle.
Two minutes later Leicester City Ladies grabbed the lead, Lacy battled hard in midfield to win the ball find Laura in space who released Rhea with a clear run at goal and an accurate finish.
Leicester City Ladies added another within a minute, Laura did well to carry the ball in to the box and as defenders, goalkeeper and striker converged on the ball saw the ball ricochet of her knee into the goal.
Susie continued to gain valuable match experience in the Leicester City Ladies defence with the support of Fran and Lauren.
Lacy chased every ball and made a series of thundering tackles to secure the ball for Leicester City Ladies in midfield, good football by Jade and Leah found Laura in space on the edge of the box and her shot from distance completed the scoring and her hat trick.
Barwell & Burbage United continued to look for a goal in the final minutes of the game but found Leicester City Ladies player of the match Sabine in fine form to prevent any further chances.

Great Team Performance

After their disappointing defeat at Asfordby Amateurs two weeks ago Leicester City Ladies under 11s faced a strong Oadby & Wigston United, who had beaten us 3-2 in our last meeting.
This was always going to be a close game with two good teams competing for an important three points. Leicester City Ladies started very brightly with Emily, Molly, Foxy and Lauren playing some good football in the attacking half.
We were also more switched on in defence with Megan and Eleni playing very well. Leicester City Ladies opened the scoring when a great passing move ended at the the feet of Molly who scored her first goal for Leicester City Ladies with a great finish. Leicester City Ladies continued to pressurise the Oadby & Wigston Defence, with subs Chloe and Olivia causing problems down the wings. Olivia was unlucky not to get her first goal for Leicester City Ladies with some good efforts.

Leicester City Ladies knew that Oadby & Wigston United would come out fighting in the second half and knew that they needed to get the next goal. It came with some good work from Lauren and a great finish. Lauren then increased Leicester City Ladies lead to three goals with another top class finish.
Even at three nil Leicester City Ladies knew that the game wasn’t finished and with 10 minutes to go Oadby & Wigston United grabbed a goal back.
Leicester City Ladies responded brilliantly and Foxy scored a well deserved goal to restore Leicester’s three goal lead. The game still wasn’t finished and when Leicester City Ladies failed to clear the ball in the penalty area, Oadby & Wigston United punished them with another goal.

This was a great game and a good advert for girls football, with both teams giving 100% and playing the game in the correct spirits.
Top performance from Leicester City Ladies who need to carry this into their remaining games and hopefully climb up the league.

Player’s of the Match: Lauren and Ella – These two were absolutely brilliant both in attack and in defence, never stopped running all game and scored three out of four goals between them. They both play with such determination and quality.

First Team Move upto Fifth

Leicester City Ladies first team climbed into fifth spot with a vital win away at Coventry Copeswood.
Leicester City Ladies dominated the game throughout but wasted several chances and the 0-2 scoreline flattered the home team.
Erica Preston gave Leicester City Ladies the lead with a fine goal, looping the ball over the goalkeeper into the top corner.
Leicester City Ladies had all the possession and although the game became a little bit flat were comfortable and held the one goal lead at the break.
The second half started with a better tempo from Leicester City Ladies and soon added a second goal thanks to a a fine individual effort from Kim Walton.
Coventry Copeswood gave Leicester City Ladies a single scare as Preston cleared off the line from a set play but the away team continued to dominated possession and produced a very solid defensive display.
Overall Leicester City Ladies deserved a win and probably by more than two goals the result leaves the first team fifth in league with games in hand on the top forward well placed to push for promotion over the next two months.

Loughborough Foxes 2 Leicester City Ladies 3

This game was always going to be a hard fought game by two very good footballing sides.
Leicester City Ladies started the strongest creating some half chances and in the fifteenth minute went into a 1-0 lead with a headed goal from a corner by Bethany.
Leicester City Ladies kept on pressing hitting the post before Megan scored with a great volley.
Leicester City Ladies continued to press and went further in front with a spectacular goal from Dexter.
With Leicester City Ladies having their tails up they went in search of more goals but with two great saves and a penalty save by the Loughborough Foxes keeper kept the score down to 0-3 at half time. The second half continued and for the first twenty minutes was very even without any clear cut chance from either side.
Loughborough Foxes then scored two goals within three minutes, half way through the second half to reduce the deficit to 2-3.
Loughborough Foxes then went in search of the equaliser and put Leicester City Ladies under severe pressure but Leicester held out to win the game 3-2.
This game was a great advert for girls football played at a very high tempo and great commitment between two technically strong sides.

Firsts Reach County Cup Final

Leicester City Ladies bounced back from last weeks disappointing FA Cup defeat to reach the final of the County Cup with a four nil victory over Friar Lane.
The semi final was played at Oadby & Wigston’s ground in very tough weather conditions and on a poor playing surface both teams played a part in a good match.
The first half was very scrappy with both teams providing little clear cut chances, the pitch, the wind and rain all contributed.
Leicester City Ladies started to get the advantage but the half ended scoreless.
The second half started with Leicester City Ladies on top and Sarah Marshall opened the scoring after 55 minutes.
Friar Lane came back into the game and had a few decent chances but Leicester City Ladies doubled their lead on 65 minutes through Gemma Ball.
Further goals from a Sugarman free kick and White from close range rounded of a successful second half for Leicester City Ladies.
Leicester City Ladies showed real patience in trying to create openings in such conditions and that really paid off with another clean sheet and confidence gaining victory.
Leicester City Ladies are now 90 minutes away from ending the season with a trophy.

Lions Back to Winning Ways

Leicester City Ladies Lions bounced back from last weeks draw with 1 9-2 victory over Barwell & Burbage United in the Under 13s League.
‘CC’ scored five for Leicester City Ladies Lions with “Minty” adding a hat trick and Jamie the other goal.

Under 14s Secure County Cup

For the third consecutive year Leicester City Ladies under 14s won the County Cup with a 3-0 victory over Asfordby Amateurs at Holmes Park.
Simran opened the scoring for Leicester City Ladies after winning the ball in midfield, cutting inside and hit a powerful shot into the roof of the net.
The half ended with no further goals from either side, Leicester City Ladies played some neat football and Asfordby Amateurs challenged well for every ball making for a good contest.
Leicester City Ladies started the second half on the attack and after several chances in the first three minutes Demi added the second after getting on the end of pass from midfield.
Asfordby Amateurs continued to battle well but Leicester City Ladies secured the match after fifteen minutes of the second half when a length of the field move ended with Demi slotting home her second of the match.

Oadby & Wigston Dynamo 3 Leicester City Laides 4

This encounter was always going to be close as they always are between these two sides in the Under 16s League.
The game started with both sides being evenly matched.
Oadby & Wigston went into a 1-0 lead and then Leicester City Ladies equalised through Charlotte.
Back came Oadby & Wigston to go 2-1 up only for Leicester City Ladies to equalised through Abbie.
Oadby & Wigston regained the lead again for Leicester City Ladies to score their third equaliser through Charlotte mid way through the second half.
The match continued to flow from end to end before in the final minute Sophie scored from a corner to give Leicester City Ladies a 4-3 win.
Leicester City Ladies manager Roger Holt commented after the game “I have to say I was very happy with the win and the commitment from my side but Oadby & Wigston more than played their part and did not deserve to lose in which was a very even game. Congratulations to both sets of players in which was a great game.”

Tigers back with Win after big Freeze

The kick off of Leicester City Ladies Tigers under 13s away league match against Cosby Girls was delayed to allow the sun to melt away the last of the overnight frost, but at last the match started ending the long break from football due to snow and frozen pitches.
Cosby United kicked off and immediately put pressure on the Leicester City Ladies goal Fran in particular making several crucial tackles.
Both sides showed signs of rustiness in the early exchanges but gradually the game picked up pace Rhea went close for Leicester City Ladies from their first attack and Kim looked solid at the back.
Leicester City Ladies managed a sustained period of attack with Shannon, Jade and Laura all going close to opening the scoring but found the Cosby United keeper in good form.
Cosby United counter attacked well and Beth on her return from injury did well to bravely save at the feet of the Cosby United striker.
Laura went close for Leicester City Ladies but her shot hit the side netting.
It was Cosby United who scored the opening goal of the match from a goal mouth scramble after a corner.
Before half time Leicester City Ladies created several good chances with Shannon, Lacy and Laura all going close but nearly conceded a second just before the whistle but Sabine did superbly to clear the danger.
Leicester City Ladies kicked off the second half with a few changes in position and the adjustment almost made an immediate difference when Kim was tripped in the penalty box following a fine run only for a goal kick to be awarded.
Leicester City Ladies mounted a sustained period of attack, Laura shot narrowly over the bar and Jade found the side netting after a powerful run from her own half.
Cosby United defence did well and enough counter attacks were launched to keep Lauren, Sabine and Fran in the Leicester City Ladies defence on their guard.
After ten minutes of the second half Leicester City Ladies Tigers pressure was rewarded with a goal, Kim collected a throw in on the edge of the box, made a good run to the edge of the box before spinning to fire a low left foot shot in to the back of the net.
Good work from Leah down the left created a half chance for Lacy to double Leicester City Ladies goal count but the Cosby United keeper made another good save.
The second goal finally came five minutes from time, Laura did well to quickly control a Cosby United clearance and shoot first time past the stranded keep to give Leicester City Ladies the lead.
Leicester City Ladies continued to attack and from a corner went close Kim created space in the box which enable Laura to latch on to an accurate ball from Rhea but the shot went straight in to the keepers arms, the move was repeated shortly afterwards with this time the shot being cleared off the line.
Well done to both teams for an entertaining match played competitively and physically with good spirit and smiles and handshakes at the end, look forward to the return game.

Rusty Ladies

After not having a game for seven weeks Leicester City Ladies Under 11’s took on bottom of the league Asfordby Amateurs.
Leicester started poorly and soon found out that Asfordby Amateurs were a much improved team from the one that we beat 5-0 earlier in the season.

Leicester City Ladies never really got going and their passing was poor. Asfordby Amateurs looked more for up for the game and were playing some nice football and creating chances. After a few good saves from Leicester City Ladies goalkeeper Viv, Asfordby Amateurs finally took the lead with a well worked goal.

Half Time: Asfordby Amateurs 1 Leicester City Ladies 0

Leicester came out in the second half believing that they were capable of winning the game but unfortunately it was not to be as Asfordby Amateurs continued to control the game. Leicester looked rusty and never really got into the game. Asfordby Amateurs eventually scored a second goal and could have had more if it was not for some brilliant saves from Leicester City Ladies goalkeeper Viv.

Well done to Asfordby Ameteurs who thoroughly deserved to win this game.

Lions draw Thriller

In a thrilling game Leicester City Ladies Lions secured a point against a very slick Asfordby Amateurs team in the under 13s league.
Asfordby Amateurs started the brighter but found themselves a goal down after ten minutes when a one-two between “CC” and Jamie culminated with a fine angled shot into the corner.
Both teams had chances after that and Asfordby Amateurs could have done better with an indirect free kick in the box which was eventually saved by Sadie.
Minty and “CC” combined well for Leicester City Ladies but both chances were saved by a good Asfordby Amateurs goalie.
The second half started Asfordby Amateurs on top and deservedly they went into a 2-1 lead thanks to goals from Caitlin and Rhiann.
Going behind galvanised the Leicester City Ladies into action and the game flowed from end to end with good runs from “Mops”, “Minty” and Jamie and some sterling work at the back from Shakeela, Sophie, “Mini”, Toyah , Chloe, Anna and Harriet.
Leicester City Ladies levelled the match when a good run from “Minty” strong turn and excellent pass to “CC” saw her left foot volley fly into the top corner.
The matched ended in a draw on a day when neither side deserved to lose!
