Mud Bath Victory

After a vital point away to Stoke City two weeks ago Leicester City Ladies first team faced another mud bath of a game very similar to Stoke City game.
With the referee giving the game the green light the game was going to be tough and it proved that but Leicester City Ladies were the victors.
First half City were dominant, Ball and Carmy causing problems on the flanks for the home team.
Northampton Town were good on the counter attack and quick pacey forwards on the their front line was always a threat. Leicester City Ladies dealt with that very well however and back four and goalkeeper played excellently.
Even in tough conditions Leicester City Ladies moved the ball very well and showed good battling qualities however it was 0-0 at the interval.
Second half Leicester City Ladies started very much the same. Northampton Town still had the long ball up to their pacey striker but keeper Bina dealt with it well. The midfield work was excellent and after working hard to get out the muddy centre area they continued to positive balls forward into space. Preston and A. Rudkin at the heart of most city attacks.
Leicester City Ladies substitutes Carvel, Wlton and Carmy all had chances but the conditions did very little to help, even off set playes a tight pitch on a wet surface meant Leicester City Ladies struggled to add real quality to their dead ball chances.
After a lot of hard work Leicester City Ladies got their reward and even the neutral surely could not deny City deserved their winner on 85 minutes. Scott played an excellent ball across the box for Carmy to sneak in at the back post to give City the points.
Overall no one can deny Leicester City Ladies were deserving winners today. On a tough playing surface city showed great attitude and good progressive football. A win that keeps confidence high going into a vital league cup final next week.
