Vital Win

Leicester City Ladies first team sealed a vital win against rivals Stoke City who were one point and one place above them in the league with a game in hand.
Leicester City Ladies were two up after twenty five minutes with goals from Scott and Walton both from set plays. Stock City pulled a goal back thanks to a dubious penalty decision and soon after they took advantage of a defensive error and levelled the scores just before half time.
Second half was much better from Leicester City Ladies and after the hour mark they started to get a grip on the game and play some good football.
Although Stoke City had good pace up front Leicester City Ladies coped better second half with it and they built from the back with good progressive play.
With 15 minutes to go Leicester City Ladies got the winner again from a set piece, but this time Helen Rudkin stole in to score at the far post.
Leicester City Ladies deserved their win going on the second half display and it was a vital win considering both teams positions in the league, Leicester can now look to build for a midweek tie with Northampton before the long trip to TNS in what it an important three game week for the team.
Player of the Match – Heather Fyfe

League Champions

Leicester City Ladies Lions secured the under 13s League title with a two one victory over Cosby Girls.
Leicester City Ladies Lions finished their league season unbeaten but had to come from behind with two goals in the last ten minutes, “Mops” levelling the scores with a excellent volley and “Minty” slotted home the winner with virtually the last kick of the game.

Secure Second Place

Leicester City Ladies produced another great team performance to beat close rivals Oadby & Wigston United 4-1. The goals came from Lauren 2, Molly 1 and Ella 1. This result gives us a great chance of finishing in second position in the league, which would be a fantastic achievement for the girls.

Player of the Match – Megan – A fantastic defensive display, improving with every game!

Another Three Points for Under 14s

Leicester City Ladies started slowly in the under 14s league game with Oadby & Wigston United contesting every ball, a couple of chances went begging in the first ten minutes but on eighteen minutes Demi scored to give Leicester City Ladies the lead.
This lead was extended on twenty eight minutes after some good football by Leicester City Ladies Kelly scored.
Demi added her second and Leicester City Ladies third two minutes later to make the score three nil at half time.
The second half saw Leicester City Ladies having a large amount of the possession and Simran twice broke clear but shot over the crossbar.
Twenty minutes into the second half Demi was tripped in the box but the Oadby & Wigston United keeper did well to save the resulting penalty.
Oadby & Wigston United must be congratulated on a very good spirited competitive display throughout the game.

Leicester City Ladies 1 WBA 2

After a a last gasp defeat in midweek Leicester City Ladies first team were back in action within three days and they welcomed high flying West Brom.
No doubt West Brom are probably the most technically gifted team in the division who were always going to provide tough competition.
First half Leicester City Ladies looked nothing like a team sitting in fifth place and a very lack lustre performance gifted the visitors the first half and they were increasingly lucky to only be 0-2 down at the interval.
Second half Leicester City Ladies got their act together and although West Brom still had chances the attitude and organisation was much better.
Both teams had decent chances and Leicester City Ladies keeper Sian Crewe was in fine form.
Leicester City Ladies got their reward with ten minutes to play when Helen Rudkin scored from long range.
Leicester City Ladies added good pressure to try and level the scores, Preston and Scott both came close from set plays but unfortunately City could not pull back the first half’s performance.
Overall a very frustrating day for all as second half Leicester City Ladies showed they are a decent side but a two goal head start in a slack first half performance turned out to be enough for the visitors.
Player of the match- Sian Crewe

Under 11s Book Semi Final Place

Leicester City Ladies saw off Oadby & Wigston Rovers in a closely contested game to progress to the Semi Final of the League Cup.
Goals from Lauren and Ella ensured a Leicester City Ladies win and means that we will now face Marlborough Rovers in the Semi Final.

Player of the Match – Ella – A determined and positive performance, was unlucky not to get a couple more goals.

Lions Progress to Semis

Leicester City Ladies Lions 4 Barwell & Burbage United 0

The Lions progressed into the semis of the league cup with a 4-0 victory over Barwell & Burbage United with “CC” scoring two, Minty and Jamie adding a goal each.

Another Good Win

This Sunday saw the visit of Asfordby Amateurs, who had beaten us 2-0 in January. We new this would be a tough game as Asfordby Amateurs are much improved from the beginning of the season. Leicester City Ladies were without 5 players for this game due to a school trip, so the pressure was on the girls to keep up the good form.

The girls started brightly and created chances from the off. Striker Lauren was at the heart of most of Leicester City Ladies attacking moves, with some fine solo runs and some good vision to pick out passes to her team mates. Leicester City Ladies were playing some good football and the new defensive pairing of Shania and Molly were keeping it tight at the back.
Leicester City Ladies pressure paid off with Lauren scoring two brilliant individual goals to give them a 2-0 lead at half time.
The second half was much the same and Leicester City Ladies increased their lead when Lauren completed her hat trick. Asfordby Amateurs were still in the game and continued to play some good football. Goalkeeper Viv was called on to make some important saves. Asfordby Amateurs did get a goal back, but Leicester City Ladies upped their game once more and Foxy scored Leicester 4th goal of the game.

Final Score – Leicester City Ladies 4 Asfordby Amateurs 1

Player of the Match: Lauren – A fantastic hat trick, as well as great work rate and unselfish play to create chances for others.

First Team Hit Four

Leicester City Ladies first team bounced back from Thursday nights cup semi final defeat in fine fashion beating bottom side Stratford Town four nil at Aylestone Park.
Leicester City Ladies were in good control of the game right from the start.
It took Leicester City Ladies a while to break the deadlock though as a disciplined Stratford Town side defended well with a lot of bodies behind the ball.
After creating many close chances Linda Scott opened the scoring from a cross ball, Marshall soon made it two finishing between the goalkeepers legs from close range.
Leicester City Ladies came out second half with a bit more tempo and doubles their score in the first ten minutes both through Marshall, first from a simple finish into the near post before rounded the keeper and finishing superbly to earn a well deserved hat trick. Carvell, Ball and Scott all had chances second half but the score stayed at four and a very satisfying win for the home team.
Overall Leicester City Ladies were in good control of the game and rarely forced back towards their own goal, a few more goals to the scoreline it could of been but 4-0 and a professional display left the home team and staff pleased.

Tigers in League Cup Victory

Leicester City Ladies Tigers moved in to the semi finals of the under 13s League Cup with a two nil victory of Cosby Girls.
Tigers attacked from the kick off and Rhea made a strong run in to the box and her well hit shot was turned wide by the Cosby United goalkeeper, from the corner Laura fired in a shot that was well saved.
Louise made a strong run down the left wing for Leicester City Ladies but was again denied by the Cosby United goalkeeper.
Both defences were on top in the middle section of the half catching attackers offside or keeping them away from goal.
The deadlock was broken on twenty five minutes, Leicester City Ladies Laura was tripped twenty five yards out in the centre of the pitch and from the resulting free kick she fired accurately in to the top of the net.
Lacy almost doubled Leicester City Ladies lead putting an excellent header from a Rhea corner just wide.
Just before half time Beth in the Leicester City Ladies goal did well to cut out a cross and Lauren was strong at the back to maintain the lead at half time.
Cosby Girls started the second half on the attack and were only denied a goal by Beth making a full length diving save, Sabine and Fran did particularly well in defence before Beth made another full length save.
Having weathered the first ten minutes Leicester City Ladies went on the attack, Louise made another strong run in to the box and Rhea had a good effort saved.
Leicester City Ladies doubled their lead after fourteen minutes of the second half, Laura received a long throw from Lacy in the box, turned in to space a hit an unstoppable shot between goalkeeper and post.
Both defences were again on top Jade for Leicester City Ladies making several key challenges to maintain the lead.
Just before the final whistle Beth made her third full length save to prevent Cosby Girls gaining a consolation goal.
Leicester City Ladies Player of the Match: Louise and Lacy for their work in midfield.

Team: Beth, Kim, Sabine, Fran, Leah, Lacy, Louise, Laura, Rhea, Lauren, Susie, Jade and Shannon
