Under 12s Battle to Victory

Leicester City Ladies under 12s faced Asfordby Amateurs in their fourth league game of the season in what turned out to be a great game.
Leicester City Ladies could not have got off to a better start with captain Lauren lobbing the keeper after only a few minutes to give her side an early lead.
Asfordby Amateurs came back into the game and played some good football, with their forward players looking dangerous and they got a deserved equaliser after a good passing move.
Leicester City Ladies could have taken the lead before half time but failed to put away their chances.
Asfordby Amateurs defended well and looked good going forward.
The second half started much the same the first with both teams very evenly matched.
Leicester City Ladies did eventually re-gain their lead when a great run by Olivia caused confusion in the Asfordby Amateurs defence, allowing Ciara to finish the chance.
Foxy then extended Leicester City Ladies lead to two goals with a good finish.
Just as Leicester City Ladies tried to close the game out, Asfordby Amateurs were awarded a penalty which they scored to make it 3-2.
At this point the game could have gone either way but Leicester City Ladies managed to seal the win with two late goals from Foxy and Jade.
After the match Leicester City Ladies manager Annie Rudkin commented “Not a great performance by Leicester who never really got going. Credit must go to Asfordby who are much improved from last season and really gave us a good game. Well done to both teams!”

More Points on the Road

After two away wins on the bounce it was on the road again for Leicester City Ladies this time to Dudley United Ladies.
Dudley United Ladies had recently recorded home wins over Leafield Athlitic and Radcliffe Olympic not to mention taking unbeaten side Wolves to penalties in the cup.
It was always going to be a tough task for Leicester City Ladies who also lost top scorer Bateman at half time due to injury .
Dudley United Ladies took the lead pouncing on a defensive mistake to finish into the top corner.
Leicester City Ladies equalised through Hillier who volleyed over the goalkeeper to make the game level at half time.
Second half Leicester City Ladies started brighter but it was Dudley United Ladies who had the better chance spurning an open goal.
Kayleigh Brant gave Leicester City Ladies the lead before Dudley United Ladies got their reward through dubious penalty decision.
Overall a point was probably just about right and Leicester City Ladies take seven points from three away games.

Excellent Team Performance

As there were no league fixtures this week Leicester City Ladies had a friendly against a very good Nottingham Forest Development Centre side.
Leicester City Ladies won the game 4-2 with two goals scored by Simran and one a piece for Jamie and Demi, another great performance by the City girls.
Leicester City Ladies player of the match was Jamie who had an excellent match and rounded it off with a goal.

County Cup Victory

Leicester City Ladies under 12s progress through to the County Cup Semi Final after a hard fought game against Leicester City Ladies 2010.

Foxy eased the nerves with a goal for Leicester City Ladies midway through the half after some good work by Jade.
This goal gave Leicester City Ladies some momentum and Jade added a second goal before half time.
Leicester City Ladies 2010 were still causing a threat when going forward, but Megan, Ciara and goalkeeper Lauren defended solidly.
The game was definitely still in the balance and Leicester City Ladies knew they still had some work to do in the second half.

Leicester City Ladies started the second half well and started to pass the ball around better and with more urgency.
As Leicester City Ladies 2010 started to tire, striker Jade showed her quality by scoring 3 more goals, one of which was a great individual goal.

Leicester City Ladies manager Annie Rudkin comment after the game “This was a tough game and the girls stepped up to the challenge. Ladies Derail League Leaders

After a fantastic match on the Thursday away to Loughborough Foxes playing the league leaders was motivation enough for Leicester City Ladies.
Leicester City Ladies where near enough back to full strength which had been their biggest down fall has now helped results improve .
Leicester City Ladies started brightly and were playing the better football, Stoke City were always dangerous with the long ball however.
An individual piece of brilliance gave Stoke City the lead a forty yard strike flying into the top corner and for the second game running Leicester City Ladies were a goal down to a wonder strike out the blue.
Second half Leicester City Ladies started the brighter again, the football was good and the back four was giving the team a good base to work from.
On 70 minutes came the defining moment of the game Kate Bateman ran through on goal and was derailed in her attempt to score by the last defender of Stoke City and a red card and penalty were awarded which Gemma Ball finished well into the corner. Some doubt over the penalty with how much she got of the ball, Was it player or ball first? Very immaterial as no one can doubt Leicester City Ladies deserved to be level.
However Stoke City now had a problem as they were down to ten. Kayleigh Hillier finished superbly into the corner on the back of a good passing move to give Leicester City Ladies the lead with ten minutes to play.
Three more yellow and two more reds were shown in a game which was played in a good enough spirit so to end with so many cards was strange and sad for the neutral.
Overall the better team won on the day, a red card influences any game however no one can doubt there was no balance of power switch as Leicester City Ladies were worthy winners. Good all round play from start to finish with city adapting to the big pitch very well.
Leicester City Ladies manager Matt Cook commented “I think the last week has shown real progress from the whole club but especially the players, they are moving the team up nicely in the league and enjoying their football. Credit is hard to come by from anyone else in football of course but I have nothing but praise for my girls this week. Congratulations on your weeks work all.”

County Cup Defeat

In total contrast to the week before Leicester City Ladies(2010) went on the attack from the first whistle, taking the game to their opponents.
In the early stages the ball would not fall for a clean strike on goal as the ball was played into the Leicester City Ladies box.
Leicester City Ladies (2010) were playing some great passing football but could not find a goal .
As the half reached its midway point Leicester City Ladies took the lead with a well worked goal.
This rocked the 2010 side and they conceded a second goal a few minutes later.
Half time Leicester City Ladies (2010) 0 Leicester City Ladies 2
The second half started as the first began with the Leicester City Ladies (2010) going on the attack as the ball was crossed into the penalty area they just couldn’t get the decisive touch and the Leicester City Ladies goalkeeper grabbed the loose ball.
The game became more open as the second half wore on and the Leicester City Ladies centre forward found time and space to score again.
The same player scored a further 2 goals as the Leicester City Ladies (2010) started to tire towards the end of the game.
Final score Leicester City Ladies under 12’s (2010 0 Leicester City Ladies under 12’s 5
Despite the scoreline this was a much improved performance from the Leicester City Ladies (2010) side. The game was a lot closer than the scoreline would suggest thanks to a great effort from all the girls as they continue to improve with each game they play.
Leicester City Ladies (2010) squad Megan, Jodie, Emily, Olivia, Keely, Beth, Natasha and Shelby.
Leicester City Ladies (2010) player of the match Emily, great performance in defence and midfield.

Both enjoyed the game and scored a goal each.

First Team Bounce Back

Leicester City Ladies bounced back from a disappointing weekend result in an amazing game which this time fell the way of the away team.
Once again Leicester City Ladies were two nil down at half time, although it was quite incredible considering the home side dominance. Second half Leicester City Ladies came out and scored after ten minutes through Laura Charles and shortly afterwards Charles caused confusion in the box forcing a Loughborough Foxes defender to nod the ball past their own goalkeeper.
Just when Leicester City Ladies were back in the game Loughborough Foxes regained the lead on the break with a fine finish.
Leicester City Ladies really got the bit between their teeth and played some great football, with twenty minutes left Katie Bateman spun the defender to finish superbly into the bottom corner.
Numerous corners and set plays were causing Loughborough Foxes problems and with ten minutes to play an in-swinging corner found its way into the far corner of the goal, this was nothing more than Leicester City Ladies deserved to win the game.
Overall great character was shown once again, to be two down and bounce back by scoring four goals in the second half was great to see.
Leicester City Ladies now look forward to a trip to run away league leaders Stoke City.

Another Great Win

Leicester City Ladies under 12’s travelled to AFC Barwell for their third league game of the season.
Unfortunately AFC Barwell only had five players so Leicester City Ladies agreed to play with six to make it more even match.
Leicester City Ladies started slowly and AFC Barwell worked hard to close the ball down and keep the pressure on.
Two great goals from Foxy in quick succession gave Leicester City Ladies a foothold in the game and the girls grew in confidence. Olivia then completed a fantastic first half hat-trick with three great finishes after excellent work by Foxy, providing all three assists.
Molly, Jade and Lauren also got themselves a goal before half time with some quality football being played by Leicester City Ladies.

Leicester City Ladies started the second half well and looked lively when going forward.
Megan, Laura and Shania all defended well and their distribution from the back was outstanding.
Leicester City Ladies went on to score another eight goals, Olivia added another to take her tally to four, Lauren scored a further two to completed her hat-trick and Jade added a further five goals to her one from the 1st half.
Another great result for Leicester City Ladies and they maintain their unbeaten start to the season.
AFC Barwell who played the whole game with five players who were fantastic and should be proud of their performance, they worked so hard, never gave up and were a credit to their club.

Squad: Viv, Megan, Laura, Shania, Chloe, Molly(1), Foxy(2), Lauren(3), Olivia(4) and Jade(6)

Unbeaten Run Ends

Leicester City Ladies surrendered their unbeaten record with an uncharacteristic first half performance which left the home team with to much to do.
Copeswoods pacey forwards caused Leicester City Ladies no end of problems and they were deservedly put the away side two goals ahead at half time.
In the second half Leicester City Ladies were better but it was to be a Copeswood day.
Leicester City Ladies pulled a goal back but Copeswood resumed their two goal lead from the penalty spot.
There was time for one last Leicester City Ladies consolation goal to end the game at 2-3.
Overall it was a disappointing day for the home team, slack defending cost Leicester City Ladies the game and a spirited second half performance was not enough.

Heavy Defeat

After a week without a game and having to play this game without regular goalkeeper Megan Leicester City Ladies (2010) knew it was going to be a tough fixture.
Leicester City Ladies (2010) did not help themselves in the first half of this game the basics seemed to go out of the window with Asfordby Amateurs attacking straight through the middle of the pitch and scoring at will.
By half time Asfordby Amateurs had scored 6 goals without reply with the Leicester City Ladies team giving Shelby the stand in keeper very little protection.
After the half time break with the game out of reach for Leicester City Ladies started to defend as a team and went forward to try and get something out of this match.
As Leicester City Ladies went forward Asfordby Amateurs got behind the defence on a couple of occasions where Emily produced 2 great saves to deny her side conceding any further goals.
As the game was coming towards its end Natasha attacked down the left for Leicester City Ladies passing to Shelby in the Asfordby Amateurs penalty area, who she calmly slotted the ball into the bottom corner of the net to make the final score Asfordby Amateurs 6 Leicester City Ladies (2010) 1
Leicester City Ladies manager Nathan Worrall commented after the game “A game of two halves. Much better in the second half, the girls need to start games how they finished this one to give themselves a chance. A lot to learn from a lacklustre first half.”

Leicester City Ladies squad Shelby, Emily, Beth, Jodie, Eleni, Keely, Natasha, Jenna and Olivia

Player of the match Natasha worked hard up and down the left hand side throughout this game, with a special mention to stand in keepers Shelby and Emily neither of whom wanted to play in goal but for their efforts the scoreline could have been worse.

Leicester City Ladies took the lead in the sixth minute when Niamh won the ball and cut in from the right to score at the near post.

Leicester City Ladies went further ahead in the sixteenth minute when Annie
scored and four minutes later she added her second and City’s fourth.

by the Asfordby Amateurs keeper before Jamie scored City’s fifth before half time.

Asfordby Amateurs came more into the game but without threat to the Leicester City Ladies goal.

Another Three Points

Leicester City Ladies then increased the tempo and went in at half time 5-1 up.
The second half was much the same with Leicester City Ladies keeping the pressure on their opponents and creating plenty of chances on goal, the game finished 12-1.
Well done to Rugby Town who are an up and coming team, their girls never gave up and the game was played in a good spirit. We wish them the best of luck for the rest of the season.

Unbeaten Run Continues

Leicester City Ladies unbeaten run continued with victory in the league visit to Radcliffe Olympic.
The game started badly for Leicester City ladies as a mistake gifted Radcliffe an early lead.
Leicester City Ladies continued to make uncharacteristic mistakes but finally managed to get back into the game when fine work out wide from Helen Rudkin found Kate Bateman in the box to level the score before the break.
In the second half Leicester City Ladies were much better and on a terribly bobbly pitch started to win their individuals battles.
Nicole Carvell popped up on the hour mark to give Leicester City Ladies the lead with a fine finish from inside the box. Keeper Catt kept Leicester City Ladies in it at times but all round the team stood firm against the direct play of the home team.
