Unbeaten Run Continues

Leicester City Ladies first team kept up their unbeaten run and their movement up the Midland Combination table. Loughborough Students had held Leicester City Ladies to a goalless draw only last week but this time the game went to City.
Some good positive first half football from Leicester City Ladies created some good chances. Brant delivery from the left and invention from Ball and Bateman were notable in Leicester City Ladies attack.
It was a fine move that created Leicester City Ladies opening goal as Kilby finished from a rebound. Soon Kilby was causing trouble again as a good set piece ended up in the near corner off a Loughborough Students player getting the last touch. Brant then shone again and another great delivery this time from the left was finished at the far post from Hillier.
Few more chances were created and a crucial save from Cattle in the Leicester City Ladies goal kept it at three nil.
The second half of the match was very scrappy and lacked in quality, Loughborough Students played a lot more positively and tried to break down the Leicester City Ladies defence.
After riding the storm Leicester City Ladies saw the game out and earned a vital away win.
Overall a game of two halves but no one can deny Leicester City Ladies first half quality and another clean sheet to go with it was very pleasing.

Leicester City Ladies kicked off in windy conditions playing against the wind Connie scored in the third minute after a pass from Jamie. Leicester City Ladies were playing some great football in midfield when in the ninth minute Demi collected the ball and cut in from the right to score.
In the eleventh minute Connie added her second and in the fourteenth minute completed her hat-trick from a
Leicester City Ladies free kick. Simran made it five for Leicester City Ladies with a power drive.
Leicester City Ladies midfield were playing some brilliant touch football with the midfield and forwards linking up well to produce some fast flowing football, Simran scored two goals just before the half hour to complete her hat-trick in the first half.

Ibstock United kicked off the second half and after two minutes Simran added her fourth goal of the game with Leicester City Ladies resumed their passing game using the wings with some great crosses coming in to the box and within five minutes Annie scored City’s ninth goal in the middle of the half the windy conditions werer having an effect on the game when Demi received a pass down the line and cut inside to beat two defenders to slide the ball pass the keeper. In the final five minutes Megan fired in two quick goals to finish the scoring, this was another great team performance by the City girls.

Seven Wins Out of Seven

Leicester City Ladies under 12s faced third placed Harborough Town in what turned out to a be a tough game.
Th game started out very evenly with neither team really finding their rhythm in the first ten minutes. Leicester City Ladies did open the scoring through striker Jade, then captain Lauren doubled their lead before half time. Leicester City Ladies knew they would have to be much improved in the second half if they were to win this game.
Leicester City Ladies started the second half brilliantly and finally got their passing right which caused Harborough Town all sorts of problems. Leicester City Ladies began to dominate and deservedly got their third goal when Olivia finished of a great passing move started in defence by Chloe with Lauren and Jade also involved. This gave Leicester City Ladies some confidence and the goals started to come thick and fast, Lauren getting her second and striker Jade scoring four more with some great finishing. Harborough Town did come back into the game in the last five minutes and grabbed themselves two consolation goals after some poor defending by Leicester City Ladies.

Overall another good performance by Leicester City Ladies and another convincing win. The girls showed in patches what they are capable of and will need to show more of this in the coming weeks.

Frustrating Draw

Leicester City Ladies kept their unbeaten run going but it was a frustrating day for the home team.
Leicester City Ladies had an early chances through Ball hit the post and set pieces from Kilby and Brant were causing confusion in the box.
Loughborough Students had a chance of their own shooting over from close range in what was a scrappy first half.
Second half Leicester City Ladies had most of the possession it took a while to carve out clear cut chances but Hillier, Bateman, Ball and Walton were all left frustrated.
Overall Leicester City Ladies dominated the ball and on another day may have sneaked it but credit to a well organised students team. Leicester City Ladies take a point and move on to the return fixture which is only seven days away.

Under 15s Reach County Cup Final

On a damp and misty morning Leicester City Ladies kicked off this under 15s County Cup Semi Final and put Birstall United under pressure from the start.
Using the flanks to their advantage with some great wing play to open up the Birstall United defence Leicester City Ladies opened the scoring on ten minutes through Connie.
Leicester City Ladies doubled their advantage in the twenty third minute.
Leicester City Ladies were now playing some great attractive football starting from the back with the goalkeeper Chloe and the defence of Laura and Paige and the midfield players feeding they forwards but for the Birstall United keeper City could have been further ahead,
with Connie and Niamh causing all sorts of problems.
Leicester City Ladies increased their lead in the thirty fifth minute when Annie shot into the bottom right hand corner of the net, and after thirty eight minutes went further ahead when Megan collected the ball in the centre of midfield to rifle in a shot from twenty five yards to make it 4-0 to Leicester to cap a great first half performance.
In the second half Birstall United pulled a goal back in the forty third minute.
The pitch conditions started to to get very heavy and hindered the football of both side.
Midway through the half Leicester City Ladies Lauren went through three tackles and the shot went to the keeper.
Leicester City Ladies had a few more chances in the half with shots by Simran and Demi but no further score.

FA Cup Victory

Leicester City Ladies carried on their unbeaten run and secured their place in the FA Cup 1st round with a convincing 4-0 victory over Northampton Town.
Gemma Ball flicked home a Brant cross to give Leicester City Ladies the lead before Thia Wright rounded off a fine move with a close range volley to double the home sides lead on thirty five minutes.
In the second half Leicester City Ladies had the best start possible as captain Ez Kilby lifted the ball over the stranded keeper.
Leicester City Ladies reduced Northampton Town’s chances and rounded off the game with a fourth goal through Hillier who chipped the keeper from right hand side.
Overall Leicester City Ladies were convincing winners and controlled the game, a clean sheet and four goals send City comfortably through to the first round.

Great Team Performance

Leicester City Ladies faced Cosby Cats for the second time in two weeks and were determined to get another three points.
Leicester City Ladies started the game at the speed of light and captain Lauren scored the opening goal within a few minutes. Leicester City Ladies passing and movement was outstanding and Cosby Cats were struggling to cope.
The goals then started to came thick and fast and Leicester City Ladies increased their lead to five in the opening 10 minutes with goals from Foxy(2), Olivia and Lauren.
Leicester City Ladies defence of Shania and Megan were solid and played out well from the back.
Leicester City Ladies continued to dominate the game and Lauren got another 2 goals before half time, 1 of which was a fantastic solo run from the edge of her own penalty area!
Leicester City Ladies started the second half where they left off, putting together some great passing moves.
Cosby Cats were much more determined this half and they themselves had some good attacks which kept Leicester City Ladies defence on their toes.
Leicester increased the scoreline by a further four goals this half, Ciara scored with a great finish, Jade got herself two good goals and Lauren scored another cracker to get her fifth of the game.
Another great performance by Leicester City Ladies, not just the scoreline but the way in which they played. Passing and movement was much improved from previous games and hopefully Leicester City Ladies will carry this good form into the important games coming up before Christmas.

Lightening Does Strike Twice

The Midland Combination Division always gives you a tough game every week in a very competitive league but over the past three weeks Leicester City Ladies have played the top two in Stoke City Ladies and Curzon Ashton Ladies. More importantly on the day of the fixtures these teams were leading the division.
Stoke City Ladies were top two weeks ago when Leicester City Ladies secured a 2-1 away win and today we welcomed the new pace setters in Curzon Ashton Ladies to Aylestone Park.
In a very even first half chances where created at both ends and the match was played in a good spirit by both teams. Kyleigh Brant gave Leicester City Ladies the lead on twenty five minutes with a superb solo run and a near post finish.
Curzon Ashton Ladies equalised ten minutes before the interval when a deflected shot from close range hit post and went in to delight the away team. In between the two goals Leicester City Ladies felt they had a penalty shout but the referee did not agree.
Second half Leicester City Ladies took the game to the visitors, Curzon Ashton Ladies were always causing problems however City regained their lead through another fine solo effort this time Kayleigh Hillier was the scorer. Kayleigh Hillier than added to the score with a rebound finish to make it 3 1 to Leicester City Ladies and effectively and seal the game for the home side.
Curzon Ashton Ladies hit the post late on but it was Leicester City Ladies day and for the second time City had beaten the league leaders and moved themselves into contention.
Overall maybe Leicester City Ladies best team performance in terms of sticking to a successful game plan and having put so much effort in the game the result followed.
Leicester City Ladies manager Matt Cook commented after the match “The girls never surprise me these days, they are capable of being right in the mix until the end. They have not let themselves down of late with poor displays however when we have had difficulties they have reacted great. I thought the effort they put in this week in training and especially for 90 minutes today was commendable. I wouldn’t rule these girls out of surprising a few more teams before the end of the season.”

Leicester City Ladies 8 v 0 Coalville Town

Leicester City Ladies kicked off in this return fixture and attacked straight away with an attempt on goal from the kick off.
Simran opened the scoring for Leicester City Ladies on eight minutes from the penalty spot.
Leicester City Ladies took command and Jamie was on hand to increased their lead after seventeen minutes.
Less than a minute later after a fine run down the right Niamh scored from an acute angle then on thirty eight minutes Demi scored to make it 4-0 to Leicester City Ladies at half-time.
In the second half Leicester City Ladies continued to dominate the game and in the forty sixth minute after winning the ball beating the defender Connie scored the fifth goal from an acute angle.
Leicester City Ladies added further goals from Annie on fifty four minutes, Connie on seventy minutes and Demi again two minutes before the final whistle capping another all round team performance by the girls.

Winning Streak Continues

Leicester City Ladies under 12s continued their good run of form with another convincing victory against Cosby Cats.
It took Leicester City Ladies a while to get going but they did eventually take the lead when Olivia finished off a goalmouth scramble in the fifteenth minute.
This goal spurred Leicester City Ladies on and a fantastic piece of play involving Lauren and Jade ended up with Jade crossing for Lauren to finish at the back post.
Jade then made it three for Leicester City Ladies just before half time when she reacted first to a loose ball, saw the goalie off her line and lobbed the keeper.
Despite their three goal lead Leicester City Ladies knew that they needed to step it up in the second half.
Leicester City Ladies came out much improved in the second half and Lauren soon extended their lead with a well hit shot.
Jade then scored two goal in quick succession for Leicester City Ladies, the first a cheeky bicycle kick and the second a good finish after Lauren won a header in midfield to put her through on goal.
Leicester City Ladies then made it seven with five minutes to go when Molly struck a great shot from just inside the area.
Leicester City Ladies could have increased their lead further but the Cosby Cats keeper was in inspired form and played brilliantly all game.
