Fourth Consectutive County Cup

Leicester City Ladies under 15s kicked-off their County Cup Final against Coalville Town Ravenettes and went on the attack two early chances fell to Connie and Niamh both went just wide.
Leicester City Ladies took the lead on eleven minutes when a ball down the right found Niamh who beat the left full back cut inside and shot past the keeper.
Coalville Town were competing well in midfield when on seventeen minutes Connie latched on to a cross to put Leicester City Ladies further ahead.
Leicester City Ladies were now starting to take control of the game with some fine attractive football just after the half hour Simran added a third goal and a minute later Niamh scored her second goal to make it four nill.
Coalville Town pulled a goal back just before half time.
The second half started with an early chance for Leicester City Ladies which the Coalville Town keeper saved well.
Play was mainly centred in the midfield with both teams compeating for every ball Coalville Town had a shot which was put behind for a corner.
Connie for Leicester City Ladies picked up a ball in midfied and beat the defence but put her shot wide of the post the game was nearing the end Leicester City Ladies gained a corner but it drifted behind for a goal kick there was no further score.
Leicester City Ladies Player of the Match was Jessica.

Point Maintains Second Spot

Leicester City Ladies remained a point ahead of their rivals Leafield Athletic as second met third in the Midland Combination League.
In a tight encounter Leicester City Ladies made the early running in the first half, chances were few and far between however.
Second half was more even with chances at both ends especially late
on. Catt in the Leicester City Ladies goal once again pulled off a fine save after a goal line scramble kept the game level.
Two flash crosses across the box for both teams still did not find the net and a stalemate game it was destined to be.
Overall a very tight encounter between two very much improved teams
from last season. Leicester City Ladies maybe had the most of the running but the clearer opportunities maybe fell to the visitors so both teams settle for a point with Leicester having to travel to Leafield next month.

Lions Win Top of Table Clash

In an exciting top of the table clash Leicester City Ladies Lions finally overcame Asfordby Amateurs 7-1 with possibly their best performance of the season.
The first half saw Leicester City Ladies take the lead after good work down the left by chloe whose pass found “Mops” who prodded the ball home. The second came from a Jamie corner “CC” lashing home.
Asfordby Amateurs then had their best spell of the match and deservedly scored after a good period of pressure including some fine saves by Lions goalkeeper Harriet but a quick freekick found the corner of the net to reduce arrears for Asfordby Amateurs.
It was now end to end stuff with both defences, especially the Asfordby Amateurs goalie and Lions defence of Shakeela, Sophie, Rumbi and “Minty” being hard pressed but that pressure was relieved on the stroke of halftime with a Minty from the edge of the box after a “Mini” corner.
The second half saw Leicester City Ladies Lions come out all guns blazing and after some nice interplay with Jamie, Olivia and Georgia the ball came to ”CC” who planted the ball in the corner of the net despite a great effort to keep it out by the opposition goalie.
The Lions quickly made it 5-1 as ”CC” r finished well after quick thinking by the Lions goalie Amelia throwing to Beth and Jamie. The best move of the day saw Georgia release ”CC” to finish well in the process scoring her 4th goal.
The game was finally wrapped up when Georgia deservedly scored heading home a delicate ”Mini” corner at the near post leaving the final score 7-1 to Leicester City Ladies Lions.

Vital Away Win

Leicester City Ladies sealed a vital away win at struggling Northampton Town by two goals to one.
On an awful playing surface with a strong swirling wind the game was bought into disrepute with three red cards and five yellows.
Concentrating on the football… Northampton Town battled from the start and made the early running, with playing conditions tricky both teams found if hard to move the ball well but is was the Cobblers who took the lead through a penalty just before the break.
Leicester City Ladies replied instantly as a great deliver from Kilby finally found Walton who finished well.
In the second half the game became less of a football match with cards and incidents all over the park. From a red card decision a Leicester City Ladies free kick from Kilby looped all the way in. With a player less Leicester City Ladies battled to hold on to their lead and with it go second in the league and into the play off spot.
Leicester City Ladies goalkeeper Cat once again proved herself to be the best in the league as she pulled of a superb save late on.
Leicester City Ladies have reach their highest position of the season and the clubs highest position for many years. Although the underdogs Leicester City Ladies are not going away from this promotion chase very easy.
Overall the game will sadly be remembered for incident rather than football, but looking beyond that a lot of Leicester City Ladies players although not all covered themselves in glory by their attitude and desire to win and do well for the club.
Leicester City Ladies Player of the match – Emily Hanrahan
However two big mentions to Waldron and Kilby who also hit top form.

Semi Final Defeat on Penalties

Leicester City Ladies faced Oadby & Wigston Rovers in the County Cup Semi Final with both teams looking to win a place in the final to be played at Holmes Park.
Oadby & Wigston Rovers started the game very brightly and immediately put Leicester City Ladies under pressure. Leicester City Ladies lost captain Lauren to injury in the first few minutes and struggled to regain their shape without her. Oadby & Wigston Rovers continued to push forward and deservedly took the lead with a good finish after some poor defending by Leicester City Ladies. With Leicester City Ladies all over the place,  Oadby & Wigston Rovers punished them by doubling their lead after only ten minutes. Leicester City Ladies slowly began to work themselves back into the game and started to look more organised and more up for it. The return of captain Lauren seemed to spur the team on and a fantastic exchange of passes between Chloe and Lauren saw Lauren put Jade through on goal and she finished calmly to get a goal back. Leicester City Ladies continued to push forward and shortly after they got the equaliser which came from a tangle of legs at the corner, still not sure who got the final touch!
Half Time – 2-2
The second half was a very even contest with both teams fighting for every ball. Leicester City Ladies probably had more of the possession but struggled to create any clear cut chances as Oadby & Wigston Rovers defended solidly. Oadby & Wigston Rovers always looked dangerous going forward and Leicester City Ladies had to be on their toes to thwart any attacks. The windy conditions did not help as both teams continued to cancel each other out.
Full Time – 2-2
The teams now faced just 5 minutes of extra time before dreaded penalties! Leicester City Ladies went all out in the five minutes to try and win the game. They dominated possession but just could not get the ball in the back of the net, Jade hit the bar with a long range shot and just before the whistle Lauren hit the post.
The penalty shoot out saw only one of ten penalties scored and unfortunately for us that one goal went to Oadby & Wigston Rovers! Both goalkeepers were fantastic in the shoot out making some great saves.
Final Score – Oadby & Wigston Rovers win 1-0 on Penalties.
This really was a great game of football, played in the right spirit by both teams. It was cruel for either team to lose on penalties but we wish Oadby & Wigston Rovers good luck in the final.

Double Signing

Leicester City Ladies are delighted to announce two new senior signings with Reva and Tori Allen joining the club.
Delighted First Team Manger Matt Cook welcomed the sisters of England star Remi Allen by saying “I am delighted to sign the girls, they have been patient and showed such maturity in waiting to qualify to sign senior deals. Also both have had an up and down year or so in football, I am delighted they have chose Leicester City Ladies to employ their trade and hopefully now they can settle down, enjoy their football and develop into the players I know they can become.”

FA Cup Run Continues

Leicester City Ladies made it through to the third round proper of the Women’s FA Cup for the second season running under the guidance of manager Matt Cook, the third round as in men’s football is the aim for smaller sides to hopefully test themselves against Premier or even National League opposition .
Having played Loughborough Students twice already both teams know each other pretty well as the game proved. It was Leicester City Ladies who took the lead as good hold up play from Charles and a smart turn from Bateman who drove the ball home to give City the advantage.
There were chances at both ends but Loughborough Students grabbed a leveller on the stoke of half time from a free kick flicked in at the back post.
After the break Loughborough Students came out flying and nearly took the lead, Cattel once again was ever present for city in goal.
On the hour mark Leicester City Ladies looked to get a grip on the game, with twenty five minutes to play a treble substitution from Cook sparked life into the team and right back turn striker Gemma Ball snatched in at the far post to finish with a left foot volley with ten minutes to play. Leicester City Ladies had to put their back to the wall late on as Loughborough Students pushed on but City edged the cup tie and will be in Mondays draw on the 9th January for round three for the second season running.
Overall a tight affair with chances at both ends, possession favoured the home team but nervy moments maybe favoured the home team to as Loughborough Students counter attacked with pace on many occasions.
Leicester City Ladies Manager Matt Cook commented after the game “I always felt we were going to win the game in the second half but as the time ticked on the last thing I wanted was extra time and I thought Loughborough were coming close to maybe scoring another goal so we threw caution to the win late on making three changes, some parts of it worked and some took time but the group adapted well and moving Gemma up top paid off, the third round was our aim. Now we just want the draw to throw the girls a challenge they deserve as last year we drew Leicester City Women which was a great challenge but someone outside the county and a division up would be great. Hopefully we have a better chance this year with a lot of East Midlands sides already eliminated one of which being last years third round opponents so will be nice to fly the flag for women’s football in Leicester in round three.”
Leicester City Ladies Player of the match Erica Preston.

Win Number 13

Leicester City Ladies kicked off this league fixture and took command straight away with the first attempt on goal in the second minute, they took the lead in the 7th minute through Connie with a right foot shot into the corner of the goal. On 12 minutes Niamh won the ball on the right rode two challenges in the area to score and on 16 minutes after taking on the defender Ruff added her second goal and Leicester City Ladies third. Simran made it 4-0 in the 24th minute with a fine effort from midfield, City were now in complete control and a move which saw a total of 20 passes which ended in the shot going just wide. After 30 minutes from a corner taken by Paige Connie scored city’s fifth with a header there was no further score in this half.
Oadby & Wigston kicked off the second half and had a shot on goal which the Leicester City Ladies keeper Chloe made a brilliant save down to her left to push the shot away for a corner to which was cleared and Leicester countered attacked, Jamie collected the ball and beat the defence to score. Two minutes later Jamie scored her second from a cross by Niamh. Leicester City Ladies increased their lead in the 47th minute when a cross by Niamh into the area was met by Demi to score city’s eight goal, three minutes later Jamie completed her hat-trick to score city’s ninth goal with a fine strike. Leicester City Ladies had a few more chances for Jamie, Demi and Simran before Annie picked up a pass on 64 minutes and cut inside and from 20 yards shot low into the bottom right hand corner of the Oadby & Wigston net for city’s tenth goal.
This was another great all round team performance by the City Girls

Winning Streak Continues

Leicester City Ladies Under 12s first game of 2012 saw them face Leicester City Ladies 2010.
Leicester City Ladies started the game brilliantly and immediatly put 2010 under pressure.  Leicester City Ladies captain Lauren gave them an early lead after good work on the left by Chloe.  Foxy doubled the lead soon after with another well worked team goal.  Leicester City Ladiess passing was top class and they continued to create chances, many of which were well saved by 2010’s keeper.  Leicester City Ladies managed to add two more goals before half time, both coming from Lauren, one being a fantastic individual goal after bringing the ball out of defence.  Leicester City Ladies defence of Ciara and Shania were solid and never looked under any pressure.

Leicester City Ladies made some changes at half time but the game continued in the same way with Leicester City Ladies passing and movement causing all sorts of problems for 2010.  Leicester City Ladies continued to put the pressure on 2010 but their keeper was on cracking form and pulled of some fantastic saves. Lauren did manage to score Leicester City Ladies 5th with a great strike into the bottom corner.  This spurred Leicester City Ladies on again and Laura got her first goal of the season with a good finish after a neat pass from Foxy.  Foxy then capped of a fantastic individual performance with a cracking finish for Leicester City Ladies 7th goal.

Final Score: Leicester City Ladies 2010 0 Leicester City Ladies 7

Overall Leicester City Ladies dominated the game with their fantastic teamwork, passing and finishing.  A special mention for 2010’s goalkeeper who was absolutely brilliant making countless fantastic saves!
