City Set for New Season

As Leicester City Ladies seniors set their sights on Strasbourg they fly off on the back of three worth while games pre season games.
First of all And impressive away performance at national reserve side Coventry City, Linda Scott scoring the blues goal. This was followed by 2 1 defeat to Norwich City, a very young Leicester side took to the pitch and although at times a little unbalanced all over it was a good pre season run out for the squad against a very good Norwich City side, Kayleigh Hillier scoring for the home team.
This was followed by a midweek game at Gedling Town, manager Matt Cook selected a mixed team and there was plenty to look at, City won 5-0 through Hillier, Burbidge, Reva Allen, Tori Allen and a bizarre own goal.
The seniors have now made their way to Strasbourg to defend their trophy from the visit two years ago.
Leicester City Ladies start two weeks late to everyone else so after City’s trip abroad they have another week to prepare for division favourites Stoke City on the first Sunday in September .
Matt Cook commented “..it has been a strange pre season all told as I have never had everyone available, then again I would rather that happen now than in the league. For the past two years I have been fighting for players to move the club forward and it has been a bit unreal this year to carry the same squad forward. I’m sure this will help to our consistency, we have lost more players than we have taken in but I am used to that. The future looks bright for the future and it was my job to bridge the gap between the new talented group of juniors coming through. I believe we have done that. Finishing third last year everyone now expects more, However I think being realistic helps. We were ten points of second last year and 1 point of finishing fifth so we are not favourites. Main point is two years ago we were on the road to no where with constant relegation battles and now we are a club again with real potential. Hopefully this year will be as fruitful as the last “
