Crucial Win

The big games continued to come thick and fast for Leicester City Ladies Under 13s as they entertained Oadby & Wigston Rovers, who have only dropped 3 points so far.
Both teams started the game at a high tempo but the wet and windy conditions meant that the game was very scrappy. Oadby & Wigston Rovers were well organised and very competitive in all areas of the pitch and there was very little to choose between the teams. Leicester City Ladies were working hard all over the pitch with Tamzin once again playing the holding midfield role brilliantly, working tirelessly to gain possession. Leicester City Ladies looked good going forward but could not quite find the killer pass. Oadby & Wigston Rovers also created chances and a mix up in the Leicester City Ladies defence gifted them a chance and only the post kept Leicester on level terms.
Half Time: Leicester City Ladies 0 Oadby & Wigston Rovers 0
Leicester City Ladies started the second half very brightly and created chances from the off. Striker Jade was thwarted on a few occasions by some good saves from the Oadby & Wigston Rovers goalie. Leicester City Ladies were playing much better football now with Lauren finding space in the middle of the pitch to pick out her passes. Leicester City Ladies could not make their pressure count though and with fifteen minutes to go they had goalkeeper Viv to thank once again when she made a great save to deny Oadby & Wigston Rovers. The game had 0-0 written all over it but Leicester City Ladies had other ideas. With just five minutes to go Jade gave them the lead after good work from Lauren. This goal was hard to take for Oadby & Wigston Rovers, who had worked so hard throughout the game to keep Leicester City Ladies at bay. Leicester City Ladies capitalised on this and Jade scored an amazing individual goal two minutes later, showing her determination as well as her talent and skill. With just one minute remaining Leicester City Ladies scored their third of the game when Olivia finished confidently for a well deserved goal.
Final Score: Leicester City Ladies 3 Oadby & Wigston Rovers 0
This is a great result for Leicester City Ladies and it sees them cement their place at the top of the league. The pleasing thing was that Leicester City Ladies kept going until the end and got their rewards with three late goals. Credit to Oadby & Wigston Rovers who made this a very even and competitive game, played in the right spirit by both sets of players.

Hat-Trick of Hat-Tricks

Leicester City Ladies kicked off and were one up inside three minutes through Simran from a pass by Demi, a shot by Demi was off target on eight minutes a cross by Charlie was met by Simran who shot wide. However Leicester City Ladies went further ahead with two goals by Demi in the 17th and 20th minutes a shot by Simran from cross by Annie was off target in the 24th minute Jordan came on for Simran and in the 26th minute Demi completed her hat-trick a rare attack by Loughborough ended with a shot off target. Stella came on for Demi two corners by Annie were cleared by the Loughborough Foxes defence in the 38th minute Jordan scored City’s fifth from a pass from Paige.
Leicester City Ladies carried on where the left off with two goals in the 41st and 42nd by Jordan to complete her own Hat-Trick her first for the club. Leicester City Ladies were now in complete command with the defence giving nothing away a corner by Annie was met by Connie and in the 48th minute Connie scored City’s goal number eight. Simran came back on for Niamh and a couple of shots by Charlie and Connie. City then went further ahead with two goals by Connie on 55 minutes and Annie in the 58th minute Demi came back on for Jordan and within a minute scored her fourth goal and City’s eleventh goal in the 64 minute, from a pass by Stella, Connie completed her hat-trick. Loughborough Foxes had a corner that was cleared by the City defence and Simran rounded off the scoring in the 72nd min with her second of the match.
Another superb team performance by the City Girls

Through to the County Cup Final

Leicester City Ladies faced an unknown quantity when they came up against Castle Donington in the County Cup Semi Final.
Both teams started the game strongly, showing their attacking intent and attacking with pace and purpose. Leicester City Ladies took the lead in the 6th minute when Jade finished well after a good pass from Lauren. On 12 minutes Leicester City Ladies doubled their lead when striker Jade got her 2nd goal of the game. The game was still very much in the balance and Leicester City Ladies had goalkeeper Viv to thank once again when she made a brave save at the feet of the striker, injuring herself in the process. Castle Donington were proving to be a handful, in particular their strong skilful winger who was causing Leicester problems. Leicester City Ladies rode their luck and this time it was the post that came to their rescue. Leicester City Ladies created chances of their own with some great passing moves involving wingers Olivia and Tamzin but unfortunately couldn’t find a way past the Castle Donington goalkeeper who was having a great game.
Half Time: Leicester City Ladies 2 Castle Donington 0
Leicester City Ladies couldn’t have wished for a better start to the second half when straight from the kick off Jade played a perfect pass to Lauren who brought the ball down and finished brilliantly past the helpless keeper. Leicester City Ladies really should have pushed on and put the game to bed but despite their domination of the possession they couldn’t make it count. All credit to Castle Donington who continued to break with pace looking for a goal.
Leicester City Ladies were looking shaky in defence and when they failed to clear the ball they were rightly punished by the Castle Donington striker who finished well.
Not long after,Castle Donington pulled another goal back with a well taken penalty. At this point Leicester City Ladies were ruing the chances they had missed but showed their character and team spirit when almost immediately Jade scored Leicester’s 4th and completed her hat-trick. With Tamzin playing the midfield holding role brilliantly, Leicester City Ladies looked a lot more solid when defending and this allowed them more freedom going forward. Chloe was having her best game of the season at right midfield and was bringing others into the game with some good passing. Leicester City Ladies dominated the last 10 minutes and added 2 more goals, both coming from Jade.
Full Time: Leicester City Ladies 6 Castle Donington 2
This was a really competitive game of football between two good teams. It was played in the right spirit by all and was a pleasure to watch. It had all the excitement of a cup semi final and both teams should be really proud of their performance. Overall Leicester City Ladies just edged it and were deserved winners in the end! The girls will now look forward to the County Cup Final where they will face Oadby & Wigston Rovers.

First Extend Unbeaten Home Record

Leicester City Ladies kept their unbeaten home form going with a 3-0 win against neighbours Loughborough Foxes who are always good performers on the ball and dangerous on the break. It was Leicester City Ladies who did take the lead when Bateman finished from close range range off a knock down from a Brant corner. City maybe deserved another before the break but Foxes were well in the game.
Second half was pretty much all City with a lot of wasted chances. Finally the second goal came from Kilby getting on the end of a Brant cross who was influential all game. Leicester City Ladies back four worked hard to shut out Foxes, Rudkin, Burbidge and Bingham most notable asked to defend one on one individual battles. City soon had a third as Gemma Ball buried a penalty to cap a good day for the Ladies.
Overall a good overall performance that could of been more than three but credit to Foxes to who played their part in a good football match.

Home Win

Leicester City Ladies started this game on the front foot and did not have to wait long before taking the lead. After good work down the left Natasha sent in a low cross which went all the way to the far post, where Jenna forced the ball into the net to give Leicester City Ladies the lead. Leicester went further in front when Jenna was fouled on the right hand side of the penalty area, after speaking to the linesman the referee awarded Leicester a penalty. Olivia stepped up and made no mistake to give Leicester a 2 goal lead. Leicester City Ladies were playing some good football now with Ella, Becky and Rebecca combining well in midfield. While D’shayney and Michelle kept things tight at the back, preventing the lively Cosby attack from getting a clean strike on the Leicester goal.
HALF TIME Leicester City Ladies 2 Cosby Cats 0
The second half started as the first did with Leicester scoring after a few minutes. Megan picked the ball up just outside the Cosby area, as she made her way into the box she shot with the keeper saving her initial effort Megan was first to the loose ball and scored from the rebound. Leicester City Ladies continued to push forward with Natasha attacking down the left, her cross cum shot finding the back of the net. With time running out Leicester City Ladies went forward looking for more goals. Olivia received the ball in midfield and ran toward the Cosby area, once inside the penalty area Olivia shot to the keepers left to round off the scoring.

7th League Win

Oadby Owls were the visitors to Babington College this week and a competitive game was expected with both teams having a good start to the league campaign.
The first ten minutes of the game was very scrappy with Leicester City Ladies really struggling to get a foothold on the tempo of the game. Oadby Owls were definatley on top at this point and created some half chances which they failed to convert. In the 12th minute Leicester took the lead when Lauren won the ball from an Oadby goal kick, passed it out to Tamzin on the left wing who delivered the perfect cross for Lauren to slot the ball into the back of the net. Just 5 minutes later Molly’s long throw was flicked on by Lauren into the path of striker Jade who finished from close range to make it 2-0. The game remained very even and became a bit of a midfield battle with both teams struggling to create any clear cut chances. Oadby were strong in the tackle and very organised making it hard work for Leicester to play their normal passing game.
Half Time: Leicester City Ladies 2 Oadby Owls 0
Leicester City Ladies made some changes at half time and were looking to build on their first half performance. It didn’t go quite to plan for Leicester as Oadby Owls hit back with a well taken goal 10 minutes into the second half. Leicester then had goalkeeper Viv to thank when she made a string of brave saves to keep them in the game. At this point Leicester were all over the place and Oadby’s strength and determination was causing them problems all over the pitch. With 10 minutes to go Leicester were awarded a free kick just outside of the penalty area. Jade stepped up confidently and lifted the ball into the top corner to give the goalkeeper no chance, settling Leicester’s nerves with the goal of the season so far. This 3rd goal allowed Leicester some breathing space and they managed to see out the game without too many problems.

Leicester City Ladies Squad: Viv, Megan, Eleni, Laura, Shania, Beth, Molly, Olivia, Chloe, Foxy, Tamzin, Lauren (1) and Jade (2)
This was a great win for Leicester City Ladies against a very strong, physical and well organised Oadby Owls team. A good test for the girls, who once again came up with the 3 points from a tough and evenly matched game. Well Done!!
Leicester Under 13’s face Castle Donington in the County Cup Semi Final next Sunday 18th November, 10.30am Kick off @ Babington Community College, Strasbourg Drive.
All support would be much appreciated.

Oadby & Wigston United kicked off and on 2 minutes had a corner which came to nothing, the game was mainly restricted to the middle of the park a cross by Annie was met by Charlie who shot wide. A foul by Oadby & Wigston United gave Leicester City Ladies a free kick which went to Demi but she was offside. Jamie who was having a terrific game on the right side of midfield for the City to produce several crosses for shots by Paige, Simran and Annie, in the 29th minute Jordan came on for Demi and had an immediate effect she collected a pass from Paige and ran at the Oadby defence and was tripped in the area for a penalty to the City which Annie stepped up to score.
The second half started with a shot by an Oadby forward which was saved by the City keeper Chloe in the 50th minute Niamh came on for Connie a corner kick by Paige was cleared by Oadby at the other end a corner by Oadby into to the near post was headed on by an Oadby player only for City keeper Chloe to make the most incredible save I have ever seen for a young Keeper. Jess came on for Charlie on 64 minutes and in the 67th minute Annie collected a pass from Jamie after a quick one two between them and went on to score number two, then in the 73rd minute Niamh scored City’s third goal. By this time the City midfield trio of Jamie, Annie, and Paige who all had outstanding performances for the City. In the 79th minute City rounded off the scoring when a cross by Niamh found the back of the net to score City’s Fourth goal.

FA Cup Victory

Leicester City Ladies were shaken at home by regional side from the West Midlands Redswood, who themselves are having a great season with good ambition. Redwood took the lead with a fine finish to silence Linwood Park. It was a much changed Leicester City Ladies side with a air of youth about them that struggled to connect to the game, skipper Kilby got them back on level terms before the break.
Second half the away team stunned City again and took a deserved lead. Although Leicester City Ladoes did not put in a good display it was a battling one and the young guns saved the day. Sub Shannon Edwards headed home and that started a great ten minutes for Leicester as first Hillier scored and then Tori Allen claimed her second career goal. Redswood made it interesting as City once again conceded a slack goal but the home side went through.
Leicester City Ladies manager Matt Cook commented “I can’t say it was a good performance because it wasn’t but it was a win and a battling victory in a cup tie with a team who won’t play with the same intensity all season. I have been involved in many games of this nature over three years and funny enough all have been won by us on the odd goal. I cannot downgrade the opposition however as they will be a fine Combination team inside the next two seasons in my opinion although we made there day more enjoyable. I am just pleased to be in the hat for the first round and I am delighted for the people who came into the side for the cup and took their chances.”
Leicester City Ladies Player of the Match: Sam Clark

Bad Day at the Office

A lack lustre Leicester City Ladies display saw them fall further short of the leading pack and although with games in hand there was a chance missed today.
First half was all Radcliffe Olympic as Leicester City Ladies failed to get to grips with the game. Radcliffe Olympic went into the lead when a long range effort found its way into the roof of the net. Leicester City Ladies had a few chances themselves but all wasted without even testing the goalkeeper.
Second half Leicester City Ladies were lucky to be only one down but made a better game off it, efforts was upped all over the park and Conrad levelled the game with a header on the hour. From there it was a even game that was battled hard by both teams. City know where near what they are capable off and a point would of been a good result on the day but Radcliffe Olympic snatched all three points late on.
Overall a bad day at the office for the blues although second half performance probably deserved a point especially as there were some star performances out there although minimal, Gage and Reva Allen notably defended excellently.
Leicester City Ladies Player of the Match: Lauren Gage

Solid Win

Leicester City Ladies faced Asfordby Amateurs in their first game after two weeks off on a cold and rainy Sunday Morning.
Leicester City Ladies started the game fairly well and began to create chances from the start. They had to be switched on in defence though as Asfordby Amateurs were quick going forward. Leicester City Ladies defender Beth did a fantastic job of keeping their best player at bay. Leicester City Ladies did take the lead through captain Lauren after a good pass from Molly, with Foxy adding a second shortly after. The game became very scrappy in midfield with both teams struggling to get hold of the ball. Lauren then made the game 3-0 with a touch of individual brilliance from a position that looked impossible to score. Olivia was then unlucky not to score after a good cross from Tamzin. Striker Jade eventually made 4-0, much to her relief after seeing numerous shots saved or go narrowly wide earlier in the game. Asfordby Amateurs themselves had chances to score but Leicester City Ladies goalkeeper Viv was alert to make some good saves.
Half Time: Asfordby Amateurs 0 Leicester City Ladies 4
Asfordby Amateurs came out fighting in the second half and starting to put Leicester’s defence under pressure. The girls stood up to the task fairly well and had their own chances to increase their lead further which they unfortunately they could not take. The second half remained very even with both teams cancelling each other out.
Full Time: Asfordby Amateurs 0 Leicester City Ladies 4
A bit of a scrappy game for Leicester which was maybe to be expected after 2 weeks without a game. Another good win though and an exciting few weeks of league games and County Cup Semi Final for the girls.
