Firsts Remain on Track

Leicester City Ladies kept up their part of the bargain in the race for second in the Midland Combination.
An unbeaten home record which extends over 14 months in competitive fixtures still remains this time it was Leafield Athletic who fail to break the run.
In a nervous encounter there were little chances in the first half, one crucial one fell to Leicester City Ladies top scorer Hillier in the box who at the second attempt poked the ball under the advancing keeper to give the home team the lead.
Second half Leicester City Ladies were brighter and so were Leafield Athletic who were good on the counter attack. Two clear chances each end, Leafield from a cross ball and a through ball, City through a Bateman chance and a goal line scramble. But one goal was enough as Leicester City Ladies remains second in the league.
Overall an important victory and Leicester City Ladies probably deserved in the end. Only results matter at this point of the season. Radcliffe Olympic keep up their chance however taking it to Thursday night when Leafield host City this time, a point for Leicester will be enough to achieve 2nd place having a greater goal difference than the chasing Radcliffe Olympic.
