Leicester City Ladies 1 Oadby & Wigston Dynamo 1

Leicester City Ladies finished the last twenty minutes pushing for the equaliser but the half ended 1-0 to Oadby & Wigston.
In the second half Leicester City Ladies upped the tempo and then got an equaliser through Charlotte.
As hard as Leicester City Ladies tried to push for the winner the goal was never going to come and that was down to an Oadby & Wigston side determined not to lose.

Under 16s Stay on Top

Great fight back

The game started with Leicester City Ladies under 16s well in control for the first fifteen minutes, then with their first attack of the game Hinckley United were awarded a penalty for handball which was scored to give them a 1-0 lead.
Going a goal down clearly shocked the Leicester City Ladies and Hinckley United enjoyed a ten minute spell and were unlucky not to double their lead when they hit the bar.
Leicester City Ladies regained control and finished the last ten minutes of the first half very strongly and scored a deserved equaliser through Sophie.
From the restart Leicester City Ladies gained control and scored direct from a corner through Emily.
Fifteen minutes into the second half Amy suffered a bad injury to her knee ligaments and the game was suspended for an hour as she needed to be taken away by ambulance.
After the restart Leicester City Ladies scored again from a direct corner by Emily to secure a very good 3-1 victory.
Best wishes and our thoughts go to Amy from both sets of players and officials, we wish her a speedy and full recovery.

Supurb Fightback

Leicester City Ladies under 16s started the game without a recognised goalkeeper due to injuries, centre half Amy was the only one to volunteer and stepped between the posts.

Desford Ladies started the game well and went in to a three goal lead inside the first half hour.

Leicester City Ladies defence never looked secure, but were able to pull a goal back through Bethany to make the score 3-1 at half time.

The Leicester City Ladies half time talk highlighted the need for Amy to resume her position at center half and Lauren volunteered to play in goal in the second half having played so well in the first half up front.

Having sorted the defence out Leicester City Ladies soon gained full control of the match and with further goals from Bethany, Dexter and Sophie secured the win.

Unders 16s Triumph

In horrendous playing conditions Leicester City Ladies Under 16s beat Braunstone Diamonds 5-2.

Braunstone Diamonds kicked off the game with the wind at their backs and went into an early one goal lead.  Leicester City Ladies steadied themselves and fought back to lead 2-1 at half time with goals from Sophie and Bethany.

With the wind behind them Leicester City Ladies were confident of extending their lead, but it was Braunstone Diamonds who equalised with a well deserved goal.

The strong wind help Leicester City Ladies keep on the attack and added three further goals with Sophie adding two and Abbie the other.

Great football was played by both teams in poor conditions, a special mention to both goalkeepers who made great saves at vital times.

Under 16s Fight Back

Leicester City Ladies made a slow start in the Under 16s league game against Oadby & Wigston Dynamo, eventually Leicester City Ladies got on top only to fall behind to a goal against the run of play.

Leicester  City Ladies made a positive start to the second half and within the first minute the match was level thanks to a goal from Charlotte, this was quickly followed with a second from Sophie.

Oadby & Wigston Dynamo  came back strong in the last ten minutes and without some outstanding defending by the Leicester City Ladies  defence the game could have slipped away.

Another  good team performance from  everyone involved enabled us to hang on to a 2-1 victory.

Well done to all the girls from both teams in what was a very competitive match.

Ten minutes leave too big a mountain to climb

Leicester City Ladies under 16s travelled to Stretton Swifts with high hopes and started the game very well.  But a ten minute spell at the end of the first half gave Strettons a 3- 0 half time lead, up until then  Leicester City Ladies looked the more likely side to score.

Leicester City Ladies came out in the second half and we upped our temp0 scoring two goals from Charlotte which made the score 3-2.

With ten minutes to go Leicester City Ladies pushed up the full backs up in search of the equaliser but with two minutes to go Stretton Swifts broke away to score their 4th goal.

It was a great effort from the girls and well done to you all in which was a great game, and we can look forward to the rest of the season with great optomism.

Congratulations to Stretton Swifts as they played their part in what was a fantastic game, and we look forward to playing them again later in the season.

Great start for Under 16s

Leicester City Ladies Under 16s welcomed new shirt sponsor KK Installations with a very convincing 5-0 win over Oadby & Wigston Snipers.

Leicester City Ladies scored three goals in the first half from Charlotte, Sarah and Abbie and added two more in the second from Megan and Sophie.

Leicester City Ladies manager Roger Holt commented “The girls played some very attractive football on a pitch not conducive to good football due to long grass.  I would like to congratulate Snipers in their fairness of play, they never gave up which is a credit to themselves, we look forward to playing them again in the coming season. Well done girls.”

U16’S Lift Victoria Trophy

On Sunday 11 July, around a thousand females battled it out for first place in the largest women’s and girls’ five-a-side football tournament in the UK.

The Victoria Trophy, sponsored by Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service, kicked off in Nottingham at Clifton Playing Fields to celebrate its 28th anniversary.

Leicester City Ladies Under 16’s team lifted the Victoria Trophy after a nail biting final against Chesterfield Ladies which was won in extra time. Well done to all the girls for playing some great football.

Squad: Morgan, Emily, Stacey, Sarah, Megan, Charlotte, Jade, Abbie, Lauren, Alice, Emily, Ellie and Isabelle.

Leicester City Ladies 3 Measham Welfare 1

This game was played with great enthusiasm and good spirit from both sides with hardly a foul in the game. With a bobbly pitch and very windy conditions it was very difficult to play football.
Leicester City Ladies put in a solid display in the defence and perseverance from the midfield and forwards enabled a 2-0 half time lead with goals from Charlotte and Brenna.
The second half was evenly contested with a goal from each side, Charlotte being the scorer for Leicester City Ladies.
Another solid performance from the girls as the weather conditions didnt let us play the free flowing football that we would have liked.
Well done girls.

Another win for under 15s

Despite difficult playing conditions Leicester City Ladies U15’s ran out 7-2 winners over Countesthorpe Athletic.
The first goal came from Becky, followed shortly before half time with a well taken free kick from Siobhan.
After half time Countesthorpe Athletic pulled one back before Charlotte,Brenna and Rosie Rushin bagged a goal each, Countesthorpe Athletic then scored their second.

Solid performance

Leicester City Ladies 12 Fleckney Athletic 1

Solid performance from Leicester City Ladies today but all credit must go to Fleckney Athletic only having 10 girls and being 5-0 down in the first eight minutes, to keep going was a credit to them and they fully deserved their goal late on in the game.
The goal scorers were Brenna(4), Charlotte(3), Rosie(2), Katie(1), Megan(1) and Jasmine (1). Well done girls.

Polished performance

Hinckley United 2 Leicester City Ladies 5
This was a very polished performance by all thirteen of the girls.
After a slow start and both teams evenly matched, Leicester City Ladies gradually took control, with first half goals from Charlotte and Brenna. Both goals were set up with fine performances in midfield by Megan, Lauren, Abbie, Rosie and Katie.
Paris along with Emily,Stacey, Jasmine and Becky had very solid performances in defence to keep the home team in check.
After the restart although Hinckley United pulled a goal back in the first two minutes, Leicester City Ladies were always in control and with added further goals from Charlotte, Brenna and Abbie to cap a fine display.
Leicester City Ladies football was crisp and precise with excellent interchanging passing, and Morgan was safe and secure in goal, well Done to all the girls.
To their credit Hinckley United never gave up and got a consolation goal towards the end which they deserved for their battling performance.

Good win for Under 15s

After last weeks disappointment losing out in extra time in the league cup Leicester City Ladies U15’s carried on their good form with an impressive 10-2 win over Countesthorpe Athletic.
Goals from Rosie Rushin (4) Charlotte Toone (3) and Abbey Raynor (3). There was some excellent performances from Lauren Holt and Katie Bryant controlling the midfield, Paris Watson marshalling the defence and the overall football from the whole team was a joy to watch.
The progression of this team goes from strength to strength. If they continue to progress at the rate they are going the sky is the limit and the team can acheive whatever they want.
Countesthorpe Athletic got two consolation goals and never gave in, they are a credit to themselves and we would like to wish them the best of luck for the rest of the season.

Extra Time Disapointment after Fight Back

This was a very high quality match played in the right spirit of the game with both teams giving everything.
Barwell & Burbage went into an early lead with Megan equalising for Leicester City Ladies midway through the first half.
The score at half time was 1-1 in an evenly contested first half.
Barwell & Burbage started the second half very strongly going 4-1 up within the first 15 minutes.
Leicester City Ladies responded as they always do and drew level with further goals from Megan, Brenna and Charlotte and pushed hard for a winner towards the end.
The game then went into extra time and Barwell & Burbage scored with a spectacular shot to settle this encounter.
It was tough for the team to lose as there was nothing to choose between the sides. Congratulations to Barwell & Burbage and a bigger congratulations to Leicester City Ladies for their efforts and they will get their rewards in due time. Well done.

Under 15s just lose out in County Cup

Leicester City Ladies under 15s put in another excellent team performance but were unlucky to lose 2-1 to Barwell and Burbage in the County Cup Quarter finals.
Barwell and Burbage are unbeaten in the league and Leicester City Ladies knew that they would be in for a tough match, but through hard work they kept in the game and Barwell and Burbage were relieved to hear the final whistle.
If the girls keep progressing at the current rate and stay together they are going to be a very strong team. Keep the good work up girls, you can be as good as you want to be with hard work and dedication.

Victory for Under 15s

Despite difficult playing conditions Leicester City Ladies U15’s enjoyed a 7-2 victory over Counteshorpe Athletic.
The first goal came from Becky, followed shortly before half time with a well taken free kick from Siobhan.
Countesthorpe Athletic then pulled one back after half time. Leicester City Ladies Charlotte, Brenna and Rosie then bagged a goal each before Countesthorpe Athlietic scored again.
An own goal and another from Charlotte made the final score 7-2.
Another good team display with some good defending by Stacey, Paris, and Emily.

Making progress

Have lost 6-0 to the defending league champions, and undefeated this season, Stretton Swifts earlier this season a 2-0 defeat shown the progress made by the girls so far this season.

Solid defence by Leicester City Ladies in the first half was only broken when Stretton Swifts scored with a dubious penalty.

The second half carried on in the same way and with a better run of the ball Leicester City Ladies could have pulled a goal back but were denied by the excellent Stretton Swifts goalkeeper, who picked up player of match award. Stretton Swifts headed a second from a corner to secure all the points.

Well done girls.

Unders 15s hit Ten

Leicester City Ladies under 15s enjoyed a 10-4 victory away to Oadby & Wigston Snipers.
Playing some neat football Leicester City Ladies led 4-2 at half time, Oadby & Wigston Snipers pulled another back shortly after the break before Leicester City Ladies pulled away.
