Ladies Fight Back

IMG_9153In poor conditions Leicester City Ladies secured a vital three points at home to FC Reedswood. The game was moved to Aylestone Park due to poor pitch conditions at Reedswood and Leicester City Ladies will now travel in April.
The first half was even but Reedswood were unlucky not to be in front as Leicester City Ladies goalkeeper Cattell pulled off two superb saves. City had chances of their own as good link up play between Preston, Hillier, Brant and Chivers created good opportunities.
The Second half was much of the same but it was Reedswood who took the lead from a rebounded corner. Leicester City Ladies regrouped as conditions got worse and captain Erica Kilby slotted home with ten minutes to go to level the game. Leicester showed determination and pushed on for the win creating several chances and the goal came as Preston stole in to volley home at the back post to seal a vital win late in the game.
Leicester City Ladies manager Matt Cook commented “I thought we deserved it, others would disagree. Catt of course pulled off two amazing saves at crucial times but that’s her job as Beckys is to score as a striker who got the winner so I don’t understand why our goalkeeper making key saves means we do not deserve it? She played her fantastic part as did 13 others, it was a great team effort. I thought we put everything into the game, we rolled up our sleeves when the rain got heavier and over 90 minutes it was deserved.”
