Outstanding Team Performance

Outstanding team performance pushes Marlborough Rovers all the way

Leicester City Ladies produced an outstanding performance against an unbeaten Marlborough Rovers side in the League Cup semi final.
Leicester City Ladies took the lead early when Lauren scored a fantastic free-kick. This is the first goal we had scored against Marlborough Rovers this season!!
Marlborough Rovers were quickly back in the game with a well taken goal and were soon in front when a long range free kick sailed past everyone including Leicester City Ladies goalkeeper Viv.
Leicester City Ladies defended brilliantly as a team, with everyone working hard for each other to deny Marlborough Rovers too many goal scoring opportunities.
Leicester City Ladies managed to keep the score to 2-1 at half time.
The second half was much the same with Leicester City Ladies frustrating Marlborough Rovers and limiting them to half chances. Any chances they did have, Leicester City Ladies goalkeeper Viv was equal too, producing some top quality saves.

Final Score: Leicester 1 Marlborough 2

The fact that in the last 3 meetings with Marlborough Rovers this season we had conceded 26 goals says a lot about the quality of the performance in this game. The work rate and the attitude of the girls was spot on and for once they actually believed that they could compete with Marlborough Rovers.
This performance will hopefully give the girls confidence for the County Cup Final on the 6th May where we meet Marlborough Rovers once again.

Player of the Match: I couldn’t possibly pick out one player from this game, there were too many outstanding performances! The whole squad should be very proud of this performance.
