Leicester City Ladies got back to winning ways at home against Leafield Athletic. however they made it very hard for themselves after producing a drab first half display.
Leicester City Ladies were a goal down at the break, Leafield Athletic dominated the entire half but it has to said that Leicester City Ladies made it very easy for them and gifted them the lead.
Leafield Athletic were first to every ball and knocked it around with some ease and the only positive was that Leicester City Ladies were only one down at the interval.
For the second half Leicester City Ladies finally showed up and rallied together with great team spirit and willingness to improve, it paid off immediately as from a set piece Kim Walton flicked on to Erica Preston who netted at the back post to level the scores.
Leicester City Ladies played at an excellent tempo and Leafield Athletic could not cope and soon conceded another goal, Kim Walton created confusion in the box the ball found its way into the bottom corner with a combined effort of a defender and Gemma Ball.
The goal gave Leicester City Ladies greater confidence and they started to play some good football.
Kim Walton secured the points through her own initiative when she chased down the Leafield goalkeeper, forced a mistake and slotted the ball home to give Leicester City Ladies a two goal buffer.
There were more chances for both sides in the latter stages but it was Leicester City Ladies second half performance of real quality that saved the day.
Overall a fantastic three points and a second half performance to be proud of and the improvement is there for all to see. The last 45 minutes were not only one of pride, fight and togetherness but real quality and in the end the best team won after a first half to forget.
