Many looking at this result against a quality Sporting Club Albion side would think it would be a simple game for the home team against one of last years struggler’s, however that does not tell the story of the game and three goals in the last 6 minutes made the score line look very unfair on the away team.
Sporting Club Albion took the lead on the half hour mark through a penalty kick and at half time Leicester City Ladies were pleased with a solid display.
Second half Leicester City Ladies were far the better side, good organisation was stifling Sporting Club Albion’s usual attacking flow and it was Leicester City Ladies who looked more likely to score the next goal and go on to win the match.
Walton, Ball, Scott, Fyffe and Preston all had good chances for Leicester City Ladies as the home teams goal lived a charmed life.
Leicester City Ladies were hit on the break however with six minutes to play when they gave the ball away on the edge of the Sporting Club Albion box and were punished with a counter attacking move.
Sporting Club Albion hit two more quick fire goals before full time which gave the score line an unfair look and one nobody in the Leicester City Ladies team could believe.
Overall Leicester City Ladies can be proud of their display against this years favourites for the division and can feel extremely unlucky to take a 4-0 defeat.
